i don’t think MS is looking for studios with these publisher acquisitions.
there is a lot of good independent studios they could get for cheaper price.

Sega doesn’t just own Japanese properties and studios. For a while now Sega has been building MS strategy games with Halo Wars 2 and AoE.
So on the PC side Sega is very valuable to them.
On top of that Sega was the one that made Alien Isolation which was regarded pretty high of a horror game.
In the Eastern and Western world now Yakuza is pretty big with the franchise being stand outs on Game Pass.
JRPG wise Atlus is regarded as one of the best in the business. That’s not Asia alone. We’ve all seen how iconic Persona has become in the West and is a stand out PS exclusive.
If none of those areas interest you there is always Sonic. A colorful mascot that tbh, is more popular than all the mascot characters currently has.
So in terms of not getting any people on to the service that doesn’t really make sense. Sega has a diverse set of games that can be added to Game Pass that appeal to global audiences. Sega fills a lot of categories MS is missing out on.
None of that takes into account that adding the entire Sega BC catalog would suddenly make MS rival Nintendo in terms of games to play from back in the day and would instantly crush Sonys offering of BC.

Guys, it’s clear SEGA which is in the ballpark of ~5B can’t move the needle as much as an ABK, that’s clear, but I doubt Xbox will /can acquire all the mega pulishers out there, considering also only EA, T2 and Bandai Namco remains within core console/pc space, all the others are under 10B. Some people here hype up Capcom, but it’s not that much bigger than SEGA, the same for SE or even Ubisoft.

Nexon and Embracer and Epic and a Valve and Smilegate all are over. I know Netease is too but they’re less so in console, more so PC and mobile.
it’s about big IPs then yeah these companies are bigger.
AC, MH and FF are much bigger than any Sega IP.
but Ubisoft games are always in top 10 NPDs tho. you cant deny that their games sell a lot

Nexon is very much Asia and mobile focused, Valve is private like Epic. So who knows what’s their actual value.
This is an useful link, you’ll notice many asian entities focused only on mobile and/or pc.

MS will focus buyout studios/publishers that have IP they want and partner with studios/publishers that will give them a close relationship like what seemingly the SEGA deal has been with the day 1 SEGA games coming to GP. MS won’t need to buy everyone for us to get cool games into GP and such.

Yeah, in the west, I doubt they get much traction in the east. That should be the next focus area for Xbox.
That value was unrealistic and ballooned by Cyberpunk (illusive) marketing.

They had their earnings call yesterday so could be a follow on from that plus the current acquisition environment.
