WB and Japanese Publishblers

Let’s get through this first , then we can worry about who(if anybody) is next. But my money is on Sega if they decide to buy another publisher. Which I don’t think is really needed at this point. The only thing that is missing from there portfolio of studio/IP’s is Japanese content. I feel like you could just make new studios in Japan and buy some key one like Nihon Falcom, Media.Vision, Silicon Studio, Good-Feel, and whoever else people deem necessary.

No need to be snarky, they usually do (we have ample examples of evidence that this is the case). This was a unique situation given the uproarious events that blew up in the spotlight hard and fast, which as we now know, caused the board to force Kotick to look for buyers.

That’s not what happened at all, nor what that statement from Schreier says either…

Straight from Phil’s mouth.

I’m still gonna keep insisting on Tabata’s JP Games on this one. Talent there seems decent and they’re still in the process of finding their footing. I think they’d be okay with becoming the “Xbox JRPG guys” even if it meant giving up Nintendo releases, because they don’t have a presence on Nintendo yet so their success there is not guaranteed. It would mean having access to a Microsoft budget and they’d be safe under a massive wing like that. Some of those other studios you mentioned like Falcom have expressed desire to keep releasing on Switch or have a good relationship with Nintendo like Good-Feel, so they wouldn’t sell.

Itagaki Games would 100% go with Microsoft as well. Then MS can grow it and have them make a badass new spiritual successor to Ninja Gaiden.

With JP Games maybe MS should do an exclusive via XGS Global Publishing and see how that goes.

They should, maybe Rabbit and Bear studios with the gamepass deal could be one. There are a plethora of studios out there and they should work with as many as possible

With AB becoming a first party studio, all I can say is after looking at the mascot picture that is going around a Super Smash Bros game with Xbox characters needs to be a must and a Mario Kart or Wave Race game with Xbox characters needs to happen.

I can’t even explain how happy I am about Spyro potentially having another chance.

I really wanna know what happened to Spyro 4… assuming it was cancelled.

I think we know who Microsoft’s next takeover is just watch this video Microsoft is looking to own Ips that can last over a decade (Minecraft, World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls Skyrim) who’s next in you based on the IP that stays the longest in the Top?

It’s obviously GTA (Take Two / Zinga) it is very likely that Microsoft will decide to invest around 40 billion to buy Take Two and the mobile publisher Zinga (I even suspect Take Two of seeking to increase their value in anticipation of a takeover)

It is interesting to note that Rockstar could offer incredible mocap, physics and graphics engine technologies and quality 3rd person games (until now Microsoft’s takeovers were more focused on PC game acquisitions (FPS, RPGs , MMO, RTS ) Take Two has X-Com and Civilization too, Bioshock Immersive sim alongside Prey and Dishonored, Zinga mobile editor with lots of licenses (King is almost exclusively on Candy Crush Saga I think Microsoft wants more Ips mobiles )

Ubisoft and down acquisition wise from here on out.

They dont want to grab more attention to them since after the deal is done they will have more problems to buying large publishers. They are needing fighting games and Japanese studios. Warner is my choice

I personally think they’d be better off going for smaller publishers that give them large backlogs of IP. After Activision-Blizzard, I wouldn’t expect anyone bigger than Square to be on the table anymore.

Even then, I’d say they’re probably better off going for individual studios.

The Activision deal will go through. Take 2 is very…very unlikely to happen

Getting Take Two really is going for the jugular and they will soon have good tech, because TT is in the process of buying Zynga, which owns NaturalMotion. Who is really great at making assets for Game engines, like their Euphoria Engine.

Absolutely not. It’s not a monopoly marketshare wise but damn near owning every IP that non-gaming moms and dads(i.e FTC) know about outside of Mario, Roblox, and Fortnite aint passing the sniff test.

FR, that is actually kind of Evil if they were to do that.

There will be no more publisher buyouts after Acti-Blizz.

It’s over.

Microsoft won’t get away with another publisher, even it’s a smaller one.

Acti-Blizz was so large with such a large amount of money it’s drawn a SHITTON of eyes now.

Private companies are probably fine, but no more publishers.
