currently yes… as far as we know. but they did say the toronto team had an “exciting mandate” whatever that means. Sledgehammer had 200 people in 2020 and are now at 500 people. Hell it’s even possible to have them the only COD studio (at 3 year cadence) and they’d still be able to make other games on top of Raven and Infinity Ward.
I don’t see how that’s possible when they are currently throwing every resource they have at CoD to maintain the current release schedule. I am assuming that Activision is not relying heavily on outside support studios and is instead using internal to do that work.
right now there’s 4 teams on 3 year cadence? Vanguard was Sledgehammers first COD lead title.
They’ve been cycling through Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Raven and now Sledgehammer. So if Sledgehammer becomes the only COD studio… so COD every 3 years… then Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Raven are available for other things. If they’re building Sledgehammer to be 3 large studios + 1 support, they definitely have more than enough people there to do 2-3 titles including call of duty. 500 people is what they have now and they’ll probably be up to beyond 700 in the next couple of years as what they’re doing is hiring people out of school.
Oh okay, I think is misunderstood what you were saying. That is not what I expect to happen (IW puts out the good COD titles), but will be interesting to see how it plays out.
wow it’s really getting boring here, i want another publisher
oh no, its spreading outside this thread
man twitter is the home of Acquisition talk
It’s worse that some Sony’s “exclusive” are not even from themselves, or even second party.
only missing here is Sonic.
Sega is not acquired….
Yet…
Very interesting to see that acquisition conversations happen very quickly for those people that say that these things take time.
This situation is different due to how messy Activision is and they approached Microsoft. Once that happened it was all hands on deck to make sure desk goes through
Probably due to a spur of the moment kind of stuff, an opportunity with all the situation around AB.
There’s so many conflicting information about this deal so I’ll choose to believe none for now
They probably would take a lot longer though. When your stock is falling, every game you are working on gets delayed and get your ass sued into the oblivion, it may speed things up when a good offer comes in.
But this also happened for bethesda, conversation happened very quickly.
So what we discuss in this thread now until Acti deal end ?
Independent studios and other players acquisitions ?
