Sony Cannot ‘Answer’ The Death Star Microsoft Is Building For Xbox (forbes.com)
After the sale, there have been many cries from gamers that Sony needs to do something to “answer” Microsoft with a purchase of their own. But whichever side of the console war you may find yourself on, at this point, with Microsoft gifting blank checks to its Xbox division, these are no longer two entities that are directly comparable.
And yet, that doesn’t mean Sony is “doomed” either, and that should not be the takeaway narrative. In fact, presently, their gaming division has never been doing better. It’s complicated.
I think Sony is perfectly secure for at least this entire next generation, barring any unforeseen disasters. But Microsoft is building something absolutely massive, and at some point, it does seem like Sony may end up eclipsed if they don’t figure out a way to move in the same direction.

It definitely is interesting to see where Xbox is today, compared to ten years ago and I can only see it getting better.
I do hope this will give Call of Duty some time to rest and allow the game developers to experiment with other video game franchises.
Seeing what Raven Software could make that isn’t a Call of Duty game would be great and if they get to bring back Heretic that will be even better.

Reducing the output and putting all eggs in very few baskets was the wrong call imo.
Riot had a hit show, a very successful FPS and is working on a great looking fighting game. They are taking risks and are branching out.
Blizzard could have all of that easily, the IP is there without a doubt.

i would give that to Riot they know how to monetize their game with high prices without getting their userbase declined big time.
that was good investment for them and Netflix.
League got huge Advertisement from it.

I forgot that Riot is also working on a diablo clone and is giving out their license to studios for the development of a platformer.
This is what Blizzard should aim for.
