Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

hmmm i think too much money would throwed here, really risky move. this is entering new business all together.

We are in desperate need for Netherrealm. They could make a crazy fighting game with Xbox characters.

I know a lot of people are asking for a smash clone, but trying to copy Smash is probably only going to result in shit.

That is true, but what a dream it would be to see the movie and tv opportunities with all the IPs Microsoft owns.

Guys, what are you talking about? That’s by far the most expensive acquisition Microsoft has ever done. They aren’t going to break that record anytime soon, lol.

The thought of a HBO show of GOW made me chuckle.

As for SE i think they would sell CD without TR to MS.

they would not sell SE Europe or TR IP, they would lose value here.

if they want to sell then they would sell full house here.

Part of Phil Spencers statement to Xbox staff.

“Microsoft is committed to our journey for inclusion in every aspect of gaming, among both employees and players. We deeply value individual studio cultures. We also believe that creative success and autonomy go hand-in-hand with treating every person with dignity and respect. We hold all teams, and all leaders, to this commitment. We’re looking forward to extending our culture of proactive inclusion to the great teams across Activision Blizzard.”

I’d say the future is very bright for the 20 studios/teams within Activision/Blizzard/King.

Call of Duty is the cornerstone IP they are getting from this purchase. They could have a fourth team come in and make games so that each developer gets four years as opposed to the three years cycle they are currently running on.

And i think theyre not going to force devs to pump it out. One studio for the IP etc.

this is game over move here, but i think they would only jump on it if other company tried to buy them .

Call of Duty is a yearly franchise that the casual flock around. I cannot see a scenario where they are not putting it out on a yearly basis, but the established CoD teams are probably tied to that.

Add one more dedicated team if this deal should close, and clean up some of the QC issues.

For the record my comment was more of a joke post.

I don’t expect Microsoft to buy all of WB, it is more of a crazy dream, like well they just spent 70 billion, what is spending 100 billion more.

Legitimately, I don’t think any of what I said has any chance of happening, but can you imagine what the internet would look like if it did.

Ubisoft and give the studios complete independence to do as they please with the IP’s.

Ghost Recon goes back to it’s roots.

Rainbow goes back to it’s roots. Single player campaign with AI instructions and pre mission planning.

Assassins Creed back to telling of the historical battle between the Templars and the Assassins… As good as Valhalla is, I can’t follow the story due to the bloated side missions and I’m 50hrs in.

Splinter Cell… just make a fcuking game.

Far Cry 6 I just can’t get into. The AI is daft and you have a fcuking pet Crocodile as a sidekick. The concept of the story is fine, but the game feels cheesy.

I completely understand though that getting GTA exclusive to Xbox is checkmate though in any “console war”.

I still want IOI, Asobo and Crystal Dynamics. Lol.

I would argue that Square do!

“Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 now has 25 million registered players. Back in October, the game was confirmed to be the most profitable in the series and had surpassed 24 million players.”

Also Capcom has Monster Hunter which has a massive following!

So I’m hearing people say the Activision aquisition will be done in June 2023. Can anyone explain why it would take so long? I was thinking more in line with late fall early winter

People are missunderstanding. It will close fiscal year 23 which ends in June 2023. So somewhere between July 2022 and June 2023 it will close.

Why such a big gap? That is a years difference
