Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

That’s how it works, Microsoft paid 50% premium over the marketcap for LinkedIn. Take Two is now paying the same rate.

Thats a weird way to say that MS should buy CDPR.

They can license CDPR to make the game. They don’t need to aquire studios to make a 1st party game.

CDPR owns the gaming rights to the Witcher.

CDPR is already working on witcher 4 tho .

They haven’t acquired the rights in perpetuity from my take on the news articles last years renegotiation of the IP rights.

I believe CDPR have a license for games, novels and merchandise.

The Author still owns the IP.

500 hr long game? Sounds like Techland knows how to play Microsoft. Probably negotiating to sell right now

Xbox is not touching that for the same reason they wont touch Ubisoft.

Too much scandals involved rn and doesnt seem like Techland is pressed for money.

Doubtful

Yeah, MS is very scandals sensitive, I think the polish studio people were talking about last year and even before was Techland indeed, but it all fell apart.

Monkey’s Paw: They buy a big publisher.

A big publisher of books.

The Zynga deal is exactly the type of acquisition I can see MS doing. I even mentioned Zynga earlier in this thread. If MS does something BIG it’s going to be mobile and/or east Asian. All the huge AAA western publishers mentioned in this thread don’t really make a lot of sense to me. However, few studios like IOI I can totally see. But Xbox is doing great with core western gamers. They need to expand on that.

When you say expand on core western gamers why would that then make an Eastern company purchase likely?

I’ve been of the opinion they should double down and become the console for western gamers and become Europe’s #1 console.

Say they buy Square West, WB, or Avalnche/Crytek/IOI etc. This is a goal I think they can hit.

I’m saying that Xbox needs/wants more than western core gamers. They are doing great in that market, now they need to expand beyond it. That mostly means east Asian and mobile. Xbox is super weak in those areas and they need to do something big to attract those markets. That’s how you get the numbers to work for these huge purchases. You need to attack completely new markets/demographics. Not the same old shit. The good news is buying something big for those markets will be nice for core western gamers as well.

I strongly disagree they should double down on consoles because the market isn’t big enough. We’re moving past console wars. It isn’t MS vs Sony anymore.

The complete disregard of games like Gears Pop and Forza Street tells me Xbox doesn’t have that much interest in traditional mobile gaming. They seem to be focused on taking core console experiences and scaling that down to mobile through streaming rather than making mobile specific content.

Wonder if that’ll succeed. Follows more of the movie/TV streaming. Same content, anytime, anywhere.

It tells me they aren’t good at mobile yet so they need to acquire someone who is. I fairly positive MS senior management isn’t looking at the mobile market revenue and saying “nah”.

Microsoft bout to buy Zynga for 14 billion :joy:

The huge cracks on Xbox are Fighting and E based games:WB fills them out. Unless they buy Arc Sys or SEGA the best options on the Asian market are out of reach

Mobile gaming is the bigget gaming market in the world. There’s nothing surprising about wanting a big piece of the action.

The price is very high - possibly to dissuade bid snipes from other companies.
