Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

It’s true, but I find strange nobody in the US or EU has even started to flag these Tencent moves, which is the biggest CCP corp alongside Alibaba: they are really aggressive and the history of chinese corps moves within western markets is not always pristine, like Huawei, blocked both in US and EU.

I think we’re going to NetherRealm right ?

  • Grubb believes that a twelfth Mortal Kombat installment will be NetherRealm’s priority due to the questionable entanglement of Warner Bros., NetherRealm’s parent company. Recent reports have shown that NetherRealm may be sold from Warner Bros., so these comments certainly make sense. Further, Grubb suggests that DC comics characters could produce licensing issues thereafter if they were to separate, and choosing instead to focus on another Mortal Kombat entry could mitigate that risk.

EA Play on Game Pass is great but you know what would be even better for Xbox ? EA being only available on Xbox.

As in, Xbox acquires EA. Now this may seem a little ridiculous and unrealistic, maybe even not the most exciting at first but think about this. They have an extensive relationship that goes back years….years, look how much overlap there is between executives joining Xbox from EA, or joining EA from Xbox. The exclusives like Titanfall 1 in the past, EA Play with Game pass partnership etc.

They would obtain all the business talent, all the studios like BioWare and Respawn, and all the valuable brands such as Battlefield, Need for Speed, Titanfall, Mirrors Edge, Sead Space, Skate etc.

It would also take a few years until the exclusivity portion would come into fruition just due to the amount of contracts and obligations. I would expect EA sports would be required to be multiplatform as an example.

But holy crap people, imagine Jedi Fallen Order 2 being an Xbox console exclusive that launches day one onto game pass, Titanfall 3 day one onto game pass, Mirrors Edge 3, Mass Effect 4, Dragon Age, Battlefield, skate 4, Madden/fifa, all of the Codemasters racers etc.

It would probably be a 50+ billion dollar acquisition but it would be crazier than acquiring Bethesda, even if I’m more of a Zenimax guy than EA. It could be the biggest game industry news in game industry news history if that were to happen.

I just don’t know if regulators would allow it, let’s discuss.

I wouldn’t count victory until it’s absolutely confirmed.

No??? What makes you think that?

Not sure what the first tweet says but im assuming its to do with Ed following Phil and Booty but Ed has known Booty since the Midway days since he worked there and Spencer is the head of Xbox so of course he’d be following him

As for the rest, they’re all just normal tweets from partners

Dont get me wrong, an NRS purchase would be amazing along with the rest of WB Studios but Im definitely not gonna use these as some kind of hint

Yeah it’s true, we need to do other stuff as a community to keep us occupied. How come XboxEra Xbox Live Party chats with like 20+ members isn’t a thing already is beyond me.

I’m pretty active on this forum but it kinda sucks how none of us actually all play games together.

Can we just do something to keep our minds off XGS acquisitions and hype train stuff for once? Like…maybe we should use our Xbox’s and Xbox ready PCs as intended rather than play the game of speculation all day, who with me?

I personally don’t think regulators would step in as EA’s revenue is only a small percentage of the total gaming revenue so unlikely to create the 30% of the market that monopoly regulations worry about. I just don’t think Microsoft would be interested. Too much of EA’s income and value is tied to loot boxes. Ultimate teams revenue is like 30% of EA’s income and I don’t think it’s something xbox want to be connected to

No acquisitions will bring up any regulators unless its Ubisoft because of the heavy EU involvement Id believe but I doubt it.

Doubt the EU would care about ubisoft, they didn’t do much when Nokia was purchased by Microsoft.

Yeah that was a decade ago

I have a strong feeling that Tencent and Embracer actually overpay the price for the marketshare, Microsoft may not be on that tought. Should also consider that Microsoft being worth more than both, you could wonder if some of the studios could inflate the price for them.

Microsoft is more “yes, you’re allowed to sell, we just don’t develop that internally” all DOA 5 and 6 dlcs are on it, Onechanbara being BC was weird because its considered one of those poorly rated games from Japan back during the early 360 days, perhaps it was included as a “early 360 games” catalogue they did for the last batch.

Maybe Microsoft rapid fires 9 acquisitions in 2022 after mostly skipping 2021.
