Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

CryEngine not used enough to be top engine in anything. Maybe it has potential but the adoption rate and actual usage is not there imo.

Nothing comes close to the Cry Engine for me.

Different circumstances. It’s not so much the EU, we are talking about the French here lol.

at this point in time I’d like to see them acquire a half eaten pizza

It depends on the game. CryEngine specializes in having a vast array of rendering tools for high fidelity visuals. That’s why whenever a new graphics card comes out people use the term “can it run crysis”. The RED engine by CD Project is a heavily modified old BioWare engine called “Aurora”. That has a preset tool asset to easily allows them to program multiple story branches in an RPG without it being linear. It just depends on the developer and their needs.

I’d love to see them go after studios like Crytek, IOI, Avalanche, People Can Fly etc because it means they’re adding even more to their hardcore gamer lineup.

I know they have needs elsewhere but those type of games are my favorite.

I’d like to see what Crytek could do if they made a story mode for that universe.

The Universe of Hunt:Showdown is really great and it would be amazing to explore it, in a single player campaign.

I think Xbox should focus on mediocre studios. Easy to find, easy to acquire. Invest and support to build great studios. Here is some good candidates:

( Fighting )

AOne Games

Arika

Yuke’s

( Platform/ E-Rated )

Big Red Button

Playful

Image & Form

Beep industries

( Hack n Slash )

Counterplay Games

( Action Adventure )

Armature Studios

( 3rd Person Cinematic )

Avalanche

Sumo Group

( Innovative )

Hello Games

Personally, I think Big Red Button is the most important one, the team has long experience and worked with a number of famous publishers.

Big Red Button as in the Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric developer? That would be an incredibly risky choice given how notoriously broken that game was, although admittedly it was also a victim of SEGA meddling and underpowered hardware. I’ve heard their VR games are better.

Fwiw as well I’m hardpressed to call some of these studios mediocre, and Sumo and Image and Form are owned by Tencent and Thunderful respectively.

That said, I 100% agree there is growth potential with many of these. Arika would be an amazing pickup, I’m on board with Avalanche and Hello, Yuke’s is a very inspired choice I could see do something special with some tlc.

wow surprised Embracer got any part of a Chinese company before Tencent. Interesting

definitely moving towards subscription I think. They’re a holdings company, just like Tencent or what Zenimax was.
