Baka, baka, Senpai has spoken!

Okay, annoying, I know, the funny thing is that AT&T (Warner’s owner) was the owner, then at the last minute before they hand the keys they made this deal. Funny.
for some reason, till today I thought Turtle Rock was already under Embracer or someone like Focus Home
Turtle Rock make perfect games for XGP. Theyve struggled due to lack of support, but with MS theyd be incredible
Oh I almost missed it!
Another week gone by… where’s my 7 new studios at?
well 4 months left (i’m not counting August) either there will be at least one Acquisition or it’s dry season for this thread
I know right, I get it Back 4 Blood looks great but it doesn’t mean they would be a good fit for XGS.
They are not the most prolific of studios and next major title already announced as multiplat.
MS might not acquire anyone for some time, as things are now there is a good cadence of releases into Game Pass.
Would be a great addition. I’m not sure that they want to sell to anyone. Seems like they got pretty shafted the last time they got bought.
Seemingly there was some negotiations between MS and Turtle Rock, but nothing came out of it. Maybe they wanted to see how Xbox treats it’s studios in terms of creative freedom and culture first.
So here’s hope
I’m pretty ignorant on things like hardware and chip manufacturing so this might seem unrealistic or even silly…
…but if MS is looking to dump cash into something, would it make sense for them to acquire a chip manufacturer or make their own in China, Japan, or the US?
I don’t need to get into details as to why it would be good for them and the number of products they have besides Xbox that could benefit. Also, creating stuff for companies like AMD and Nvidia who both embrace MS tech in their products seems to make sense.
I was just thinking that this vertical integration would be smart. This chip shortage may be temporary but can always happen again.
Is there something I’m missing to explain why this hasn’t happened yet? I’m probably missing something obvious here.
Chip Fabrication plants are money sinks and difficult to get right. The only one worth acquiring now is TSMC - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing. Their net worth is over $613 Billion.
Intel has been struggling to keep their Fabs up to date. They have had issues shrinking below 14nm process sizes. Meanwhile TSMC hit 7nm, started volume production at 5nm, and have 3nm process shrink on the schedule.
The smaller the process the more dense the chips can be, allowing more transistors per area, which means better performance, better power efficiency, or a mix of both.
Idk Evolve struggled cause it was just a bad game and had nothing to do with support and they spent 2015-2021 doing Oculus games.
Still think this is one of the more realistic Xbox targets out there.
That’s very black and white way of seeing things. It had high 70’s on Metacritic and got mostly slammed for the aggressive microtransactions and lack of content at the launch.
We don’t know how 2K influenced the development and it sure didn’t help changing the publisher mid development.
But that’s the same discussion as with Crytek. Some see the value, some don’t.
I dont think that changes the reality that Evolve was boring to play due to the gameplay loop quite simply not being good. 4 players running around an empty map while trying to chase 1 monsters wasnt particularly appetizing.
I remember after seeing the first trailers and details of what Evolve was way back when, I thought the game was going to suck and made it known. And oh boy, did I get backlash for that. People thought that game was going to be the next big thing and wouldn’t hear any discenting views
I even started thinking “man, I must be missing something here. People are so sure this will be great. So okay, hopefully they’re right.” And it came out and…boy was it a miserable experience to play
I’m now going to introduce you to the concept of personal taste: I quite liked it.
And that’s why I wrote, that some see the value and some don’t.
I remember trying the beta and coming away thinking how boring it was.
