Though I wonder what movie production MS can realistically buy? They could buy WB before the merge with Discovery. But it will be too expensive after the merge. An HBO is owned by debt ridden AT&T
I think that’s why Moffat worked so well during 1-4. It was such a stark contrast to the general tone of RTD that it just hit different.
I mean Blink, The Doctor Dances, The Empty Child, The Girl in The Fireplace, Silence in the Library, Forest of the Dead.

Honestly, since this thread is on it’s last leg, might just be fun to allow for tangents like this since it’s the most active thread.
If they’re going to do it, even after acquisition wouldn’t be too expensive for Microsoft. It makes their stake that much larger. They could make so many classic Discovery style documentaries for Age of Empire and Age of Mythology.

I am still confused, this Discovery is one that owns Discovery Channel? Actually now that you mention, indeed MS owns stuff like Age of Empires, Microsoft Flight Simulator and so on. It works quite well with documentaries.

Well, I am not sure if will be willing to merge with Warner Discovery. They won’t use stocks either (MS I think never did that). But if they do and also grab some music publisher, they can become a power house too.

Yes. One and the same. However Discovery has become more centered around home renovations and improvements and other cheaper to create shows like Gold Rush or Street Outlaws etc.
I see. I remember good old Discovery Channel from many years ago. In that case, MS gains nothing from owning Discovery. Warner is better though in that regard.
Oh yeah, it would be nice if they ended up with Discord, but that company is chasing the gold. They’re not worth it at what MS offered. Now once Discord goes IPO their services will tank as the shareholders push for profits. There’s nothing they can reasonably offer to make money on their own.
It would be easier for a company that already has data center resources to leverage as well as broader subscription service to pair it with.

Right, but thats why the partnership with Discord would have been a good fit for both sides. Discord sees major pay out, significantly cheaper resources for their infrastructure, while Microsoft gets a usable and popular social platform.
Imagine a Game Pass Ultimate where Discord is used for interactions and voice communications across all platforms, instead of trying to get everyone to use Xbox Live on PC or Android for talking.
