Barely related, but Sony appears to be purchasing the company that will be making Series 14 and onward of Doctor Who.
Does this mean that Sony owns Doctor Who now?

Doctor Who hasn’t been good in a long time. The writing for the series has gone drastically down hill since 2014.
I loved the 5th Series with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. Series 6 tried to recapture that lightning in a bottle, but it did suffer from Moffat’s Kingdom Hearts level insane story-telling. She’s actually their daughter, and time is moving backwards, and it’s secretly a robot!
7 was so-so. I kind of loved Capaldi in Series 8 as an angry old man Doctor before the softened him for the later seasons.
I think Whittaker is fine, but the fucking writing is AWFUL. CHIBNALL CANNOT WRITE DOCTOR WHO TO SAVE HIS LIFE.
Fucking hire Toby Whithouse, but NOOOOO.

I stopped watching after Matt Smith’s run. I actually like Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker as actors, but I could never get into them as the Doctor. I haven’t watched enough since 2014 to know if the writing has gone down, I just know those actors didn’t click with me in that role.

Oh right.
I guess RTD being back would make the writing better, but the tone will be more childish and in tone with 1-4 which isn’t a bad thing, but Series 1 was Rough, 3 was okay, 4 was pretty good, but Series 2 RTD is KINO.

With these moves, with Amazon buying MGM and Apple building new headquarters in Hollywood MS might be forced to buy some media. And Sony also a big music publisher, while Amazon and Apple both have music streaming services.

Eccelston is in my top 5 or 6, but I really hate how he turned his back on the franchise.
He’s coming back, but man the 50th anniversary special SHOULD HAVE HAD HIM IN IT.
It’s amazing how out of the way they have to go to deal with his bullshit.
Like we got a half-assed regeneration from War Doctor to 9th (ANOTHER ONE OF MOFFAT’S BULLSHIT ASSPULLS)
I mean they gave Paul McGann, FREAKING PAUL McGANN a canonical regeneration that acknowledges Big Finish, yet Eccelston couldn’t even appear for a real Regeneration, they have to CGI his face onto War Doctor without finishing the Regeneration.

I can’t fault him, considering his view was the series was lighter style and for kids but they were writing it darker and older. That’s also why it was some of the best writing, RTD and the darker older push.
