Xbox Acquisition |OT3| 100% Organic Growth

Yes, I should remind that Bloober has been public for years, and both Bloober and PCF have kinda of value, so maybe any idea of acquisition was never on the table once they were too expensive, my guess is that IOI will become a prime target for Microsoft as they’re still private.

This image sums it all up about the state of the devs there in Poland, and who could be a potential candidate. 11bit and PCF are higher up compared to someone like Bloober, for instance.

According to the author of the source article (this was as of Dec 2020):

  • Unicorns are companies (public or private) worth more than 1B PLN (~250M USD).
  • Wolves are companies (public or private) worth more than 100M PLN (~25M USD)
  • Rising stars are companies (mostly private) worth less than 100M PLN (~25M USD) but growing significantly and with a potential to join the Wolf club soon.

Yup - this is Infinity Ward Poland. Included to possibly indicate where that particular branch/studio stands compared to other devs in Poland.

That is my reading of why the author included it .

Paradox is full of internal problems right now.

-change of ceo -acquisitions that didn’t help -many cancelled projects -games selling below expectations -accusations of internal nepotism and sexism -They have a lot of staff and produce few games.

would have a lot of potential but they won’t buy it if they buy sega

it would be nice to see microsoft queen of rts with sega parodax and oxide under xgs

I’m almost low key expecting Oxide Games to be a part of XGS. They have been collaborating with Xbox on the tech side for quite a few years now to develop their multiple characters on screen tech.

Ex PCF team. Small team developing their own fps.

Better to let them develop their second game and then make an assessment, imo.

I have not played Ethan Carter - how is it?

Ethan Carter is a good one

Right, but on the other hand unprofitable acquisitions, cancelled projects, sales below expectations, and niche games in general, would be good reasons for company to sell. Paradox also averages around 2 games per year as well as large amount of DLCs, so I’m not sure if the output is that bad.

But you’re right, the recent workplace controversy and the new CEO (I don’t know his views on Game Pass) are probably roadblocks for this to happen.

I still think Paradox would be more probable to sell than Sega. I just don’t see Sammy selling that part to anyone. Then again, Paradox and WB are kinda longshots as well.

I think the whole shift within Paradox is just the result of Bloodlines’ messy development and leadership wanting to pivot back to the company’s bread and butter.

Assuming a sequel to Gears Tactics is in development which could very well still be with Splash Damage, Xbox has a firm, PC oriented foothold in their portfolio:

  • AOE4 - RTS

  • Project Indus - 4X

  • Gears Tactics - Turn-based

Paradox has like 9-10 studios and I think are valuated at around $15b. Xbox’s Game Pass partnerships with them and Sega aren’t going away anytime soon. There’s time for Xbox to continue to build up its own offering and supplement gaps with said deals.

Point being, I don’t think Paradox isn’t necessarily worth acquiring. They’re pretty expensive and it wouldn’t be that difficult for Xbox to catch up to their output through independent deals if that’s even the goal.

Thank God whoever was trying to buy Obsidian did not get them so glad MS got them.

I’d be curious if it was someone like Activision-Blizzard, because the whole “we’re having problems hiring people and want you to help build our stuff” sounds just like them.

I’d be so mad that after High Moon and Raven Software (this would’ve been before VV/Toys for Bob) they’d potentially kill another studio.

Im still mad about Neversoft. The Tony hawk games were so good.

Same with Guitar Hero.

I still think those type of games could make a comeback, this why I’d be so down for Xbox to acquire Harmonix.
