I’m so aboard that Nordisc train you all are going on about. Xbox has so many great IP they could use. Especially their shooters.

Curious if Nordisk really is selling, does Microsoft go piece-by-piece or by the whole thing?

MercurySteam is a fantastic studio, but without a great IP behind it, I think the talents would be wasted.

Maybe sell MercurySteam to Nintendo.

I’m sure they’d do great with Ori

Mercury making a 2D Banjo game

I think Mercury is on Nintendo hands, but as Grubb said over investing and trying out, reminder that Sony and Nintendo did it for years with Bluepoint and Next Level Games. My guess is that MercurySteam will be bought if they can handle an Nintendo IP with them being only on a more supervision level as it happend with the latest Luigi’s Mansion. Maybe Microsoft decides to step faster and buy these studios before their games are released, maybe not.

And regarding Bloober and why Microsoft doesn’t buy shares, my guess is that they become target of interest where other companies in other fields look at these publicy traded devs as likely being bought by MS, it has been a very long time where you had console makers owning shares of companies who worked exclusively for them, Sony had up to 15-20% of Square Enix, Nintendo had 51% of Rare.

MercurySteam is part of nordisk games. seems odd they would just sell off one studio. If they were going to sell you think they would do it all or nothing. But who knows.

MercurySteam isn’t part of Nordisk. They are a big shareholder(40%) but they don’t own MercurySteam.

A similar situation happened before. Nordisk owned a minority stake on Raw Fury and the company was later acquired by Altor Equity Partners.

Anyway, I don’t see Nintendo acquiring MercurySteam, but it is a possibility.

Tencent buying 22% of Bloober for $19M means that they are valuated around $80M, right ?
