That’s some wishful thinking. :joy:

Tim just described this thread in that tweet.

Being excited about acquisitions that Microsoft executives have already told people to expect is nothing like the murder-inducing cult that is Qanon. Leave that shit at the door.

EA and Take Two lol. That’s some wild speculation and wishful thinking. But just for fun if Xbox were to get one then I would say EA games is a bigger acquisition than Take 2. EA would be the best acquisition IMO. I say that as not a big fan of sports games other then NBA2k.

This thread serves a purpose to discuss Xbox acquisitions, and to a lesser extent industry acquisitions that impact Xbox. There are literally dozens of other threads on the forums and nothing is keeping anyone from visiting them or discussing items of interest there. Constantly complaining about people talking about acquisitions in the acquisitions thread, whether there’s news or not, is counter-productive and does nothing but detract from the discourse assigned to this very thread. From now on, constant whingers will be flagged and posts deleted; repeated offenses will warrant further actions.

You’re right… I just meant that people are susceptible to getting riled up into making absolutely bonkers conclusions without any legitimate evidence. Human nature’s interest in willing insane things into the public consciousness is wild. But I’ll try to avoid aggravating the dialogue any further.

Wish I could upvote this ten times. The worst part of this thread is not the wildly optimistic and starry eyed people, it’s the wet blankets who seem to hate anyone else having that optimism…

I know people are annoyed with my post (and similar ones to mine). I guess I just see the constant complaints about acquisitions announcements not coming to fruition the way many of you see “wet blanket” posts (e.g. exhausting). But I’ll ease up on criticizing overhype. If folks here enjoy the cycle of getting hyped and angry then maybe that area of the conversation just isn’t for me. That’s okay. When I do contribute, I’ll try to be more respectful to everyone here, not just the folks that share my approach to the conversation.

I agree with Jez. I’ve been saying for a while that no one knows about acquistions.

Justin,

My reply was not targeted at you (or anyone) specifically.

I’m not sure how much time you’ve spent in here, but there has been a steady drip of negativity in the thread for a long time - with frequent calls to shut the thread down, put it on slow mode, etc.

Some of our members just go nuts when they see this thread has added 500 posts even though “nothing has happened.” What they don’t understand is that for many of us the journey is just as fun as the destination. Some of us enjoy the silly memes, the hype cycle, etc.

I am absolutely fine with people having different opinions on any possible acquisitions. And I’m absolutely fine with people who don’t want to get caught up in the hype cycle. But, those folks should not have the right to kill the fun for those of us who enjoy the discussion here.

This sums up this thread for me perfectly. Its not the only place I visit here but it’s the highlight for many of the reasons above.

What the hell happened here

Agreed. The memes are goofy fun. I just feel bad when folks like Colt (admittedly partly his own doing by setting unrealistic expectations) get beat up by the community, when I’d think people should know better than to overreact to non-acquisitions over and over again.

But, I still love talking potential acquisitions too. Just not getting married to specific rumors. It seems like a lot of people get hurt when that happens.

Also, the job of being a mod is hard (and often thankless), especially when setting rules requires a lot of flexibility and nuance. I appreciate you guys here.

Acquistion content is fun to imagine but it is not without its problem. I still remember the Bungie Ceo had to come out twice to stop the rumors same with techland.

It might be the cynic in me, but I always have to fight the thought in my head. That too often these messages people put out about being concerned for other people is less about that and more about “Hey everyone, look at me being thoughtful and sensitive. Aren’t I great?”

Not saying that’s what it is everytime…but damnit it’s always my first suspicion

Seems like I’ll have to doctor up another poorly made meme. Yay!

I’ve always looked at this thread as some good fun. No need for anyone to take things too seriously.

(If you fight me on SEGA tho I’ll HM01 you!)

It sounds like the hype (obviously not isolated to just this community) negatively affects companies as well as causing heartache for the folks at Xbox.

I think there is a difference between discussing potential acquisitions and some of the behavior lately. Might do us all some good to chill some and try and get back to normal.
