Xbox Acquisition |OT3| 100% Organic Growth

But WB was trying to sell last year with several big companies bidding, but it seemed nothing came from that. Now we’ve been speculating that MS might have won the bidding after all.

Well, we’ll see. Wouldn’t mind this getting leaked tbh, this teasing and then nothing is not really fun, lol.

That’s unlikely, WB Games is formally part of the WarnedMedia and Discovery merger.

WB with purchased rights to the complete catalogue of licenses for games, LoTR, DC, Harry Potter etc, would surely be in the realms of the money being talked about for Take-Two?

Tom and Jerry, The Jetsons, Wacky Races etc for the kids.

It’s a goldmine of franchises.

It’s more than likely you have a bunch of grifters and click merchants who suddenly know something when one person posts a wild rumor just in case it actually happens…

Been burned too many times on this…unless it comes from Schreier or to a lesser extent the Grubbster, I don’t think it deserves much attention.

Yeah, I agree. The most reliable insiders like Jez and Nick aren’t commenting on this and Jeff and Brad asked us to have “patience”, so I think that if something is actually happening it isn’t happening soon.

…and to be clear, I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade or excitement.

I’m just wayyyyyy more cynical about “insiders” than most.

Valve does nothing for Gamepass though in reality.

Yes you’d own the PC store market and maximise profits there, but your not buying reputable studios to put games into gamepass.

If Microsoft has 40 studios in ten years throwing out AA and AAA titles every other month… you’ll be looking at $20 for Ultimate…would you begrudge that?

Only if the rights are sold for perpetuity, otherwise Take Two is several times bigger.

I’m just having fun in the world of speculation… They’ll buy someone else at some stage.

Oh I have no doubt they will either…always thought it’d be Ubisoft TBH.

I reckon Microsoft would put the money on the table for the full sole rights to WB’s game franchises.

if they are gonna get another punlisher I would say WB, 2 Batman developers who can make not just batman but obviously good games. The shadow of war developer alsom akes great games Netherrelm( nuff said) Avelanche is already makeing a game for xbxox and so much more

For take 2 a lot of the stuff like sports games wouldnt be exclusive. would GTA be worth it?

I still want absobo

I’d love Ubisoft… just to shake the company up and send it back to where it was 10 years ago.

Every game is the same now and I’ve owned practically every major UBI game since Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon began in the 90’s.

You’re confusing your Avalanches. There are two.

One making Harry Potter (WB) the other making Contraband (Nordisk).

Mods, I personally would not have minded an implementation of slow mode today…

@Knottian @Doncabesa

Speculation is fun, but 500 replies of it in less than a day, woof!

Here is my tier of Acquisition i would take any one of them.

  1. Valve: You get Steam number 1 PC store front. Half Life, Counter Strike etc

  2. Take-Two: They have the most popular IP’s GTA, Red Dead enough said

  3. EA: They have the most Legendary beloved IP’s

  4. Ubisoft: They have many IP’s and that what Gamepass needs more day 1 games

  5. WB: They have Superheroes IP’s and the best fighting game Dev

  6. Square: JRPG’s enough said

  7. Capcom: Resident Evil, Monster Hunter etc

  8. Sega: It Sega enough said

  9. Konami: They still have Legendary IP’s like MGS & Silent Hill

  10. Bandai Namco: Japanese games Xbox needs more 1st party

Then don’t open the thread. Problem solved

Bandai above Konami because Bandai actually still makes games. Konami would be building out studios like crazy to make it worth it.

Deathloop and Ghostwire were low hanging fruit to get exclusivity on because Bethesda would had low confidence in them to be big sellers. Arkane and Tango both came off underperforming titles - TEW2 did poorly, Dishonored 2 did poorly, Prey was a mega flop. Neither game is of a type that is known for major sales success. The price for exclusivity on Starfield would be dramatically higher because expected sales would be dramatically higher too.
