Kojima said days ago that he wanted to make a game that changes stuff real world time, this would be something achievable by cloud

Google and Sony rejected his new project and was reported to be a cloud based game. Kim Swift was brought to the Xbox Cloud games team to make the deal with Kojima and Microsoft happen. If they would go that far, they could have in mind the idea of buying the studio to be the leader in cloud gaming development.

Microsoft acquisitions are curious, buying Playground Games and Undead Labs were no surprise because they were second party, what was unexpected was buying everything else: Compulsion, Ninja Theory, InXile, Obsidian and Double Fine, because these are AA to entry AAA studios who worked with exclusivity only in the OG Xbox/360 days, and part of their content is seen as very quirky for first party. Even Zenimax could be interpreted as “not much unexpected” but more for the shock value as they had constant deals since the OG Xbox days. Kojipro would match the type, it’s an independent AAA studio that relied on a contract with Sony, they develop games that are unusual of your typical experience.
