Anyway the WB rumour imo it’s not that realistic NOW, I researched a bit and the whole WarnerMedia is merging with Discovery, with AT&T retaining the 71% of the new merged company (also receving $43B in cash and debt), while Discovery will own the 29%.
Within this corporate merger, gaming assets might not be the biggest thing, but I suspect that AT&T spinning off gaming unit before completion (they still own WarnerMedia until the merger is done), like they have already done with the mobile studio (a move not liked by investors, a thing I discovered while reasearching), won’t be liked nor permitted by Discovery itself.
After the merger it’s completely possible, I doubt AT&T want to continue to invest in gaming and it’s a far away venture from Discovery interests, they are full on merging Discovery+ and HBO Max to take on Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video.
In conclusion it’s a big mess, it’s always possible MS reached a deal with both entities (AT&T and Discovery) and bought the gaming unit and also a license agreement, but it’s a bif of reach right now.
The T2 rumors have been around for weeks, im not even sure where it started, always seemed like nonsense, colt just talked about them on his podcast, he didnt actually start them
Skullzi talking about a big acquisition is whats got people hot and bothered today but nobody mentioned T2
Yeah, Take 2 rumors sort of started and then crazy price tag of $27B.
Even though a lot of people doubt it including me, I still think Valve could be a possibility. The kind of tease reactions we are getting from Tom, Jeff and others seems to point at something massive. Also, Gabe said something becoming clear towards the end of the year.
That move would cement the PC side of things. I don’t know if it makes sense in terms of IPs.
We all know that an acquisition is happening, Satya and Phil already said that. I interpreted this as Brad saying that an acquisition won’t happen soon.
Take Two seems too big honesty, I don’t believe it.
WB would be insane, some great studios and so many fantastic licenses; Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC universe (incl Batman) and most importantly, Lord Of The Rings!!! However, I still thing this is too big and just would not be worth the cost of the licenses, despite the opportunity.
Paradox makes sense, but hopefully they would be a team that could bring PC games to Xbox day 1, otherwise it would mean very little to me personally.
Based on @Doncabesa’s gif and my late night delirium I’m settling on IOI.
I read that tweet by Brad as he knows something is going on, we need to be patient.
But it could also mean that in general we should have patience, for any acquisition news. After some of the tweets today you build up expectations that it’s probably gonna be revealed soon, but who knows. If it’s going to take a long time I wouldn’t mind any of these sources just come out and say they are trying for this and that.
That would be a solid acquisition for gamepass PC because I still feel the consumer base for gamepass is probably 85% console 15% PC, and they’ll need to improve that split
