For example once Rocksteady is done with Suicide Squad and they are motivated for another licensed game, maybe Xbox can get them to do Deadpool in partnership with Marvel of course.
Just an example.
Only downside is that all these studios are busy on multiplats right now, but that’s the same if it’s Take Two or any other, really.
WB Gaming would be a good acquisition. Rocksteady, TT, Netherrealm and Monolith are amazing studios. WB Montreal(Gotham Knights) and Avalanche(Hogwarts Legacy) are untested but their games look great.
Yeah I found it old that AT&T put the wb games up for sale for two months and as soon as Microsoft entered the fold they took it off the market maybe Microsoft told them just deal with us we have the money.
they can just buy AT&T’s part/full shares in the new entity and get the studios as a part of that transaction. When the merger completes, they will own the studios.
IP licensing is a different ball game altogether. Unless they are going for the entire wbdiscovery.
There are still two big games unannounced, the Monolith one (last was LOTR in 2017) and the NR one (MK11 in 2019), so they could lock down two big ones in the immediate. Then, yeah, the others will be really materialize far ahead in the future, but still GP day one for big WB games next yeat could be huge, B4B is the smaller of them all arguably.
Harming Sony is a consequence, “harm” is a strong word, I just want them to stop moneyhatting Japanese games, if they want some fund them or acquire some stuff.
But above all else, what I want to see is the potential these studios have with full creativity freedom and full support from MS.
Don’t mind that they are currently making multiplats as those games will be negotiated to release on gamepass. The quality of the studios are just that impressive of a get
