Pretty much I assume same thing with cyberpunk2077?
Right, I forgot that the IP is not theirs.
But what I’d like to know is, if Xbox owns WB, what happens to the licenses. Say Xbox wants Rocksteady to make a Batman game in the future only for PC and Xbox, they will still have to make a deal for that, correct?
I guess that even WB would be pushed to make a move to first-party games after seeing the success of the Marvel ones on PS.
If it truly is WBgames I’m sure MS will have liberty with the licenses.
Surely, no acquisitions start and get completed within days of a Sony showcase.
Any acquisitions are probably months in the making.
Unless they are willing to pay more
Warner tried to sell their studios without the licenses for 4 billion USD and literally no company was interested. Maybe they decided to include some rights so they can actually sell the studios.
If they got only the studios and no licenses I’d think it’s still great, MS has a ton of amazing IPs that these studios could go to town with, they could also make new IPs for all I care, they’re all extremely talented.
In an ideal world, yes, but they were just so badly cash-strapped by AT&T. Grubb was reporting last year that they lost a year in uncertainty just worrying about their jobs.
Gotta remember that they were interested last year the bethseda talks went on and off for few years
Yeah, they also own the gaming rights.
Figured as much
Rocksteady, TT, Netherrealm and Monolith will always be a factor.
Yep wb games is what 11 studios?
Exactly. Nothing is going to be a reactive step when you are dealing with acquisitions.
Yea so I wouldn’t be surprised if talks kept going
The main ones are RS, TT, Monolith, NR, Avalanche/Potter, WB Montreal, along with WB LA, WB NY, WB SF, WB Boston and so on. They sold a couple of mobile studios to EA.
ah ok
I want to remind that for 7.5B they could buy not just one publisher, but other big names and there would be still money left to buy even some AA-AAA studios.
For now I’ll wait, I still believe we won’t hear anything until months ahead.
Hoping for WBganes, great talent to do whatever, and a ton of studios to just about make Xbox an essential ecosystem for anyone.
And hopefully this means way harder moneyhats for Sony.
