It wouldn’t change anything though… the next game from x studio would always be in the future.
It would be a statement that Xbox is committed to bringing quality games to it’s customers and they won’t be locked out in future.

GTA moneyhat would change a lot. A lot even with T2 acquisition. Because consumers look at the games and content, rather that commitments.
I could almost guarantee that if Sony got an exclusive of that magnitude and Microsoft bought the parent company of the developer/publisher, they would null and void the contract somehow and bring it to Xbox.
I highly doubt Take2 would sign an exclusive deal with Sony for GTA6, without Microsoft getting a heads up to counterbid them.
They would bid it out
If you strike another Zenimax-level hit, I assure you Sony would be much warier of its nasty moves with timed shit and concurrently the mindshare blow would be disastrous, it’s literally buying time, also, as I already said, big publishers have always many unannounced stuff you can repurpose as exclusives, don’t you think Redfall and Starfield, like Deathloop, wouldn’t have been all multiplatform if not for this “content war”?
And who has $130b on hand at very short notice and a subscription service to grow via day 1 major AAA games?
didnt even bother to do it with KOTOR which was by all intents and purposes an xbox game so can we stop saying this. Microsoft isnt trying to outbid Sony right now in any kind of games acquisition aspect or studios.

MS may just decide that it’s not worth it.
KOTOR isn’t a thing that could be worth billions. Take 2 also isn’t a small studio like Aspyr is. They aren’t dumb and won’t leave money on the table.
Xbox is not getting into bidding wars for this kind of stuff.
I don’t see any scenario where Microsoft would knowingly allow the biggest game in the industry to go to Sony without countering.
It would not only be profitable to Xbox via sales but bring gamers to the Xbox system and drive gamepass subscriptions.
It’s a timed exclusive… completely different scenario from the biggest game in the industry being a console exclusive.
Guys, I think this moneyhat things is OT here, before a green post. XD
The obscene money involved in any GTA deal is out of reach for Sony so Im not sure why this discussion is occuring.
I can easily see because it would much more expensive to overbid Sony there due to sheer market share. Also MS is known for its lackluster attitude towards time exclusives (since RoTR trouble).
Anyway, it won’t happen - time exclusivity I mean - at most some DLC and that’s it but with GTA5 I don’t even remember if there were DLCs or something.
No, only marketing shit and skins, also for RDR2. Rockstar Games make too much money for moneyhats, like COD or FIFA. Anyway, it’s OT.
It was a speculative fictional opinion.
Provide proof.
It would simply be a terrible idea for Microsoft to not be investigating that. I work for a very large company and know how supplier relationships and projects are managed and run and you better believe they are soliciting games and capabilities and opportunities from their supplier base. Like they’re very likely talking to any supplier of any significance about what opportunities there are to work more together and support Xbox initiatives.
Actually even a week after I am still kinda annoyed by that. I mean it is literally one of the legendary OG Xbox games and current we have 20th Anniversary. It was literally an easy mind share win but alas.
I don’t understand why moneyhatting is an unrelated topic, considering that acquisitions are deeply related to that. Moves made by other platform holders, are directly affecting what MS can and will do.
KOTOR. Literally the easiest win. 20th Anniversary, legendary game, time exclusive…for Playstation.
It’s the type of scenario that led to Microsoft partially going after Zenimax.
I wouldn’t say it was completely off topic.
