I feel like there is gonna be a green post very soon.
Proof of what? GTA makes more sales than 99% games in the industry. Rockstar would have no interest on doing any kind of deal like this to begin with much less Sony paying for it.
Sometimes these discussions can end in 2 sentences and there isnt any rocket science involved.
There’s already been a green post about it these days. It’s tangentially related, but that’s not a direct cause and effect scenario.
You stated they are not bidding against Sony for anything. Where’s your proof.
Zenimax financially wasnt well, they had a good relationship with xbox, they wanted to sell and xbox had a need for studios and ip’s. A perfect storm of coincidences.
Not good enough to not fuck over them with timed shit, lol, that’s really borderline inexplicable considering Xbox and Bethesda history.
Well technically, according to the rumors Todd prevented exclusive Starfield stuff.
Third party moneyhats sure Microsoft has zero interest into getting that with Sony and the game list is there. Acquisition wise if Microsoft wants something they will get it but their targets are completely different from Sony so there is little overlap.
I dont get what you are trying to get out of me. An article?
Hence why I said “partially”.
Sony went after Starfield at the least. Microsoft bought Zenimax.
It won’t end there either as Microsoft grows their studios. Sony will have to after 3rd party deals to compete for game output.
I think $7,5B prevented that shit. XD
But it was probably not enough for Ghostwire and Deathloop. I think there was more to it.
Nick deleted his tweet. My brain can’t handle this kinda fuckerboutery.
Contacts already signed by the time Microsoft stepped in and took their ball home?
As I said, it’s tangentially related: as long as MS grows, Sony moneyhats will be fewer and farther between, because their cost will grow directly related to MS growth. But it’s not a direct cause and effect scenario because we know for a fact MS doesn’t run for big timed deals since 2015.
Those two games are really a strange scenario, I still don’t understand why they happened in the first place, how MS could let Sony fuck over them with an historical “friend” and how they could not even release them as multiplatform, it’s a bad look from every angle you observe it.
More surprising that Sony did not go after Starfield first and decided to take cheaper games.
After KOTOR I am not surprised. I mean if Game Pass was the issue, then MS could do the same thing as with Death Door and just don’t put it there. But alas.
If MS is not going after time exclusives, then their only solution is basically acquisitions. Simply no other way, because if we look at the amount of moneyhatted games they cover the broad spectrum of studios, rivaling that one of MS first party even after Zenimax acquisition. Granted they are timed, but they still block the resources of the studio for some time.
MS’ wants to grow their subscription and they will purchase publishers. That’s inevitable and that’s where I disagree with @javycane .Zenimax purchase had a lot to it, but that won’t be the single big publisher acquisition that MS will do.
Smaller studio purchases might happen - sometimes - but MS is clearly going after IPs. And only publishers can provide the big amount of them and also studios that can work with them.
Higher costs, so more time for negotiations, then MS swooped in and said “naah”. XD
Yep, acquiring BIG is the ONLY solution to stop the moneyhat spree IF MS is not interested anymore in running for those deals. There’s really no other solution.
Or did Todd Howard tip Uncle Phil off as to what was happening and Phil went woooh fuck that, where’s my cheque book
I don’t see what’s hard to stand about the difference on acquiring and paying for timed exclusivity.
You’re not acquiring anything significant in a moneyhat and whatever you do isn’t a long term play.
If you can relate a moneyhat to a specific acquisition then fine, but I really don’t see how licensing deals, moneyhatting, etc really relate to the OT.
It’s tangentially related, as long as MS keeps growing, these annoying deals will be fewer and farther between. That’s the deal.
