I’ll give it a few more hours but honestly we’re not looking for some sort of “verified” insider program. It doesn’t work. You’re either right about things or you’re wrong, and if you’re consistently wrong then we’re not going to let you keep posting like you’re in the know here.

As I have constantly told people, acquisitions take time and we know they’re coming; we have more confirmation now from the top brass than when Bethesda was acquired. Some of what the team knows didn’t jive with information some users were dropping and that, coupled with disappearing for the week, is the larger problem.

I think this thread serves a use as a way to discuss Xbox’s plans on acquisitions and to discuss good fits but shouldn’t be a place for conspiracies and fake information.

I’ll add to this as I’ve seen a lot of people ask for it. The reason this doesn’t work is because vetting someone based on their sources or position to know information fundamentally doesn’t work. I have 0 clue who Jeff Grubb gets his information from but he has a proven track record so I trust him. If someone came in here saying they were best friends with Phil Spencer, that doesn’t automatically mean they should be trusted on what they say. The only way to “verify” if someone is a good “insider” is if they are reliable.

Yes, one person who has claimed insider information before did so again, another passed along something someone told them. A repeated history of claiming inside info and having it not come to pass will lead to silences/bans.

Zhuge tweeted each of the major companies (MS/Sony/Nintendo) would likely drop announcements this week. That spurred acquisition talk, and someone doubled down on that by saying exactly who they’ve “heard” MS is getting. A few days of nothing and then a 4chan post got shared that had Microsoft buying seemingly half the gaming companies in the world. Maybe not that many, but it was a LOT. Almost everyone said that was bullshit, but as there was no other viable news - we did ponder what each of those companies and their acquisitions would mean for Microsoft. Somehow that turned into “major conspiracy theories” with really one one person potentially being guilty of outright lying or sharing information that simply isn’t true. The rest of us used it as an exercise in talking about a future fantasy Microsoft.

It would be so much easier for those who may have inside info to just post what they’re saying as predictions and whatnot. This way, if they’re right, great but if not, no biggie. Don’t know why those with insider info don’t do that. Oh well.
