If we make a list of the rumours so far :
- We have ACG saying MS is wanting to buy IP’s.
- I think Nick who also heard about something like that
- Jez hearing potential acquisitions of studios with their IP’s on the scale of Double Fine/ InXile from one of his trusted sources.
- Very recently Rand having received a DM that made him bumped up the chances to seeing an acquisition at E3 to 90/10.
- Matt from Resetera also thinking they will announce an acquisition.
Is that it so far, or have I missed something ?

I’m still on the SEGA train, it just makes a lot of sense to me.
I think an easy answer is Asobo just because I feel like it would have always been the plan if Flight Simulator worked out.
Larian is an interesting theory assuming MS is going all in on WRPGs. In line with this one is buying the Baldur’s Gate IP. This one would definitely be out of left field and cause some heat that’s for sure.

Wouldn’t that be way too many employees between paradox and all of its studios?. Although I would enjoy that
I love the posters that scream CONSOLIDATION!!! when MS acquires someone, but when Embracer or EA or T2 makes a purchase they’re nowhere to be seen…

Or anyone really. How many first person studios has Activision acquired for cod and just closed down anything else they worked on.

Wow. We’ve acquired Bethesda and a slew of other studios. This seems like a great place to stop for a while.

Keep in mind the AA studios are just what Jez has heard of. We could see those AA studios and everything in between on Sunday.
Honestly, I feel acquiring AA and building them up is a solid cost effective strategy. Even though compulsion hasn’t made anything yet, but look how much the company has grown since the acquisition

On the flip side of this though, look at the return Sony got on insomniac. If imagine someone of that size could have a similar impact and ROI

That is true, but Microsoft might have a studio in Obsidian that can have crazy output too, but maybe not at the level of Insomniac so far.
I do feel maybe Microsoft need maybe another 1 or 2 AAA, but maybe should put focus on acquiring and building up AA to AAA. A lot of the time budget is what hurts these studios and Microsoft can provide that
