I absolutely think Activision would spin them off for the right number…
Crazy? Possibly lol…just something from the gut.

Idk Blizzard another one of those studios that loves crying about their Activision relationship but their game output is horrendous.
They’d be worth it alone for WoW…let alone Hearthstone and Overwatch.
They’d be worth it for Diablo
Holy shit, completely forgot about that lol…totally right.
Some ex-Microsoft/Xbox executives (Mike Ybarra, Rod Fergusson) are working for Blizzard.

You gotta think about laws around monopolies too. While Microsoft could afford the games industry, they probably wouldn’t want to spend everything on it, and also not get fined trying.
Valve will go public before it sells out to Microsoft or Apple
Valve has no need to sell itself to anybody.
They could sell their studios and IP though, Gabes retiring soon
good god MS acquire a bombshell, just for the meltdowns
give me capcom games on gamepass holy shit
I don’t think EA are of much interest to any of the big 3. Thier main source of revenue are licenses they don’t own. MS won’t be worried about them being acquired.
Acrivision, really expensive again for a publisher who is mainly Cod these days.
Take Two, yea this would hit MS if Google or Amazon acquire them. Again though, super expensive and sports licenses are amongst thier biggest earners.
For me What would make MS defensive is the idea of Bungie, CDPR, Valve, Roblox being acquired. Any of these is a serious punch to MS really. It greatly weakens thier goals.
Activision - COD, Crash, Spyro, Tony Hawk, and Blizzard (Diablo, Warcraft, Overwatch, etc)
Take Two - Rockstar (GTA, RDR, etc), 2K (Borderlands, Bioshock, etc.), Private Division
CAPCOM, SEGA, and Square would be huge too.
Imo, a developer that only releases one major game every 4-6 years being bought out by Google/Amazon would be way less impactful than any of the above mentioned publishers. I’d argue EA too once if they get back into things and Codemasters works out.
It’s funny, they already did and people lost their minds makes my up reasons that they have to put their games on everything. They would do the same for Capcom. The only way they can get past that is if they equivocally direct with the exclusivity if the publisher. Any wiggle room and the meltdown is mitigated by " they can’t afford to not put it on PlayStation."
It’ll be a long time before any company have to start worrying about that, MS owns 23 studios and there are probably thousands of studios. Not only that but they put the games on a lot of different platforms they dont own like in future, Steam, iOS, Android, Smart TVs, Xbox consoles and so on. I think this is how they can get around it honestly. If they had just released everything only on Xbox consoles then yeah I could see them get screwed in the courts.
Plus they are only in third place which means less eyes on them or less scrutiny.
Studios like the ones I mentioned are capable of creating the next big thing, and I think talent that can do this is what appeals to MS more so then Spyro or Tony Hawk
I just cant see MS fighting tooth and claw against EA or the others being acquired. There is so much bloat and fat with all those publishers. I think they’d rage if Bungie or the other ones I mentioned got acquired tho
I think you’re on the right track here, I’d say they’d be defensive about Asobo, Bungie, Dontnod and Moon. I agree with the earlier statement about people not being interested in EA because of all the licenses and they’re locked into multiplat releases for most of those licenses.
Amazon and Google could make a play for a few publishers, I’d guess Square West, Konami, Capcom, Sega, WB, Developer Digital and Avalanche Group. I think of those Microsoft could get defensive about Capcom and Sega. They’d be interested in bidding for WB, but I doubt they’d be defensive about it unless it included all the IP but I don’t see ATT selling the IP.
EA is never getting acquired by anybody. As much as the internet loves to circle jerk with them they make probably the most money out of publishers and are super good on every platform same with Ubisoft.
