WSJ: Xbox to put next Call of Duty title into Game Pass

I might actually play CoD again because of this. I fell off the series hard when CoD: Ghosts came out and just couldn’t bring myself to shell out the $70 every year for a game I knew I probably wouldn’t finish. I’ll probably give the MP a whirl again as well until I realize I’m too old to keep up.

Shocked I tell ya :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I mean I don’t believe every word they say but recently they confirmed it again. Would be a incredibly bad look if they now said…nah.

“Things change” “After careful consideration…” “The market dictates…”

I believe it when I see it.

(I’m sure it will be there, for the record)

Congrats to Indiana Jones on its 12 million week 1 players!

They gotta make a Cod Bundle with 6 months of Game Pass Ultimate, make sure everyone knows that Xbox is the place to play COD now, advertise it everywhere…

Game Pass average per customer is like 9 bucks and some change so there’s still plenty of people they can convert to Ultimate.

Not really, based on the pre and post “Game Pass Core” numbers that we know. A good majority is already on Ultimate. And those who aren’t yet, are probably just not interested.

No upgrade path for PC Game Pass, either. (Not sure if that’s included in the 9 bucks average?)

As the WSJ article is pay walled I can’t see it, but, had assumed their source was the Sarah Bond interview quoted in the Xboxera news post and this was a nothing burger.

Or are they claiming different sources for this already made public information?

I will play the campaign for sure

Changes to Game Pass are coming, as several insiders confirm.

“confirm” doing a lot of work. we’ll see

With a huge IP like that I definitely expect a price increase and I’m OK with that.

It talks about changes to tiers - short of an ad supported one which I doubt they’re in a position to launch this year and maybe a cloud one, I don’t really see there’s much they can change beyond price.

That claim doesn’t sound like just a price rise, so I’m thinking it’s probably garbage…

The price has only really matched inflation in the last few years. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you offered all Bethesda and ABK games as a 10$ upgrade to Gamepass in 2020, people would’ve laughed at you for thinking it could be so cheap! Gamepass with all current studios is worth 20$ at least

If there’s any price increase it’d be due to inflation and exchange rates, not just CoD joining unless they added some other perk too, as that’s a way to annoy probably half the Game Pass membership that don’t care about CoD…

GTA5 is pretty huge and was on it for 6 months, Minecraft is massive and on it permanently - so using CoD as an excuse for price rises wouldn’t go down well

Ah yes, I do understand you. But keep in mind all the ABK games coming and new ones in development. Value is absolutely going up for the players.

Bethesda doesn’t put out very much, and ABK is just a couple of games - the rest aren’t as big - so for me I wouldn’t consider the value add enough to massively increase the price, given we got EA Play without one.

I’d rather yes they just be honest and say inflation and we need more money from it - if they added Ubi+ for example I’d gladly pay extra too

I should explain, I agree Game Pass is a deal at twice the price, but if they were going to raise prices considerably just due to CoD I’d hope for some additional perk for those who don’t care about it
