What are you currently playing?

Reading your current games makes me want to try Psychonauts 2 and also Yakuza now that I’m no longer a pc only gamer and I have a fabulous Series S and a comfy sofa

But the starfield hype is pushing me to finally try the main quest of Skyrim. About time to start it!!!

Pillars update: So Kana didn’t react and he went back with us, where I talked to Eder and got him to join as I’m about to explore the under ground temple if Eothas. Battles are definitely more not stacked against me there, but also I have run into some sort of Infinite combat glitch.

Completed Redfall the other day. Good 7.0/10 game at best. Is my lowest ranked completed game of the generation below Saints Row, Gotham Knights and Biomutant. Almost dropped the game on the final boss due to horrible game design that took me over an hour to complete in order to finish the game.

Now playing Hi Fi Rush. On chapter 10. Great freaking game for the most part. Not a fan of the mandatory parrying/QTE sections in order to advance the story but easy difficulty and turning on that easier rhythm option that makes the button prompts all default to “X”. lol

But great game. Hoping to wrap it up this weekend before going back to work on Tuesday.

Decided to start a new character in Diablo IV, and chose a sorc, and I have to say from my memory, the sorc class feels more powerful than the rogue class did when I started out.

Never been a FF type of guy but man, FF16 has completely captured me.

Some of the best combat I’ve ever played in a video game.

Completed Hi Fi Rush yesterday. Great 8.5/10 game. The mandatory parrying to advance was annoying but other than that, really enjoyed the game.

Playing Tears of the Kingdom which is amazing so far, I am past 40hours and I haven’t done a main quest yet. Exploring the world is so much fun, also the game looks gorgeous.

Now besides Zelda I am planning to start Amnesia: The Bunker tomorrow, all the talk about being kinda immersive sim make me very excited and curious about this game.

Been playing Chained Echoes. Can’t believe this game was made by mostly one person. It’s lovely.

The Exoprimal Beta. I missed the first beta but I was able to play it Saturday. I wanted to play it today too but a nasty storm swept through overnight and knocked half the city’s power out… But I did enjoy the time I got to spend with it! I played Witchdoctor most of the time, and I really liked the game mode where both teams have to come together to defend against the big wave of dinos before having to defeat the Neo T-Rex boss afterwards.

Finally played three hours of Final Fantasy XVI. Playing on action mode and on performance mode.

First and foremost, game looks excellent from environments to character models to cinematics to everything else. No issues here.

Second, the music is top notch, sound effects are good and voice acting from all the characters is great.

Third, the story has already given me a few holy shit moments in just the first three hours (just made it to the hideout) and a few shocked me as I didn’t see two of them coming. Way too many cinematics and way too long at times but it’s obviously, a very heavy story driven game so in this regard makes sense. Enjoying it a lot actually and more than the combat/gameplay.

Fourth, the combat up to this point is disappointing. It’s basically just a button masher. All im doing is pressing the square button to attack with a fireball here and there while also dodging when needed. Haven’t come close to dying yet.

The Eikon battles are truly spectacular but are basically a QTE fest. You shoot, dodge and press the correct button when it appears. There’s no depth as of now with the combat at all. My biggest issue is in regards to the HUD options or lack there of. I can’t turn off motion blur which I fucking hate and think it’s horrible to where every game that uses it SHOULD have an option to turn it off. Next up is the damage numbers and the enemy detection arrows. Way too much clutter on the screen when fighting. It’s ridiculous.

Wish I could change the controller configuration. Not a fan of the skill tree/point system setup. Haven’t upgraded or unlocked anything yet as what I want to do costs too much.

Three hours in, im enjoying it for what I thought would turn me off the most but hasn’t - the story. Great game that will probably be in the 8 - 8.5/10 range for me. Will continue playing more tomorrow.

I ran out of gamepass. I won’t get gamepass (well, gold + trick) until I get paid. In the meantime I’m exploring my digital pile of shame.

I have never played an Assassin Creed game. I have the enzio collection. Is that a good starting point?

That’s probably a lot of people’s favorite - it also depends on how much you’re interested in the underlying story that goes behind the franchise. You might not understand what’s happening to the modern day character at first, but if you’re ok with that it isn’t a bad place to start & those are pretty good games. I think of those, I like the middle one best. I definitely played the games out of order & it wasn’t too much of a problem for me.

The AC Ezio Collection is buggy. Achievement sometimes don’t unlock and some crashes.

  • AC 2: very stable
  • AC B: some crashes, but not that bad
  • AC R: it’s recommend to play on 720p and rush through sequence 3-6. And avoid using smoke bombs. It will crash your game.

But it’s a good starting point for the series. If you want to know the whole story of Desmond Miles and Altair just watch a video about AC 1. The first game is not worth a playthrough imo.

I almost always play things in order, but thats how I am. You should at least watch a story recap for AC1 so that you know Desmonds story in the modern time since it is a direct continuation, as well as getting Altair’s story and some background.

The Ezio collection is one of the best ways to play Assassins Creed and a fan favorite. The first game on the other hand is somewhat repetetive and clunky and a bit divise. You can just watch the story part on Youtube and then start with Assassins Creed II.

You can also wait for a sale on AC1, its often just 3 bucks. It runs at 4k@60fps on Series X and looks better than the games in the Ezio collection imho.

Thanks for your replies about Assassin’s creed. The beginning of the game feels like “parkour in modern age” enjoying it so far.

Finally completed Bioshock 2 Remastered. Surprised that gameplay wise i enjoyed it better than the first. Although nothing story wise that can live up to WYK in bioshock 1. Onwards (and of course upwards) to Infinite.

Bioshock 2 is the best one.

The story is much deeper with great characters with various motives.

Gameplay is also way better than the first one. The annoying part is getting all the little sisters, but only for completionists.

Best DLC also. Try it before going into Infinite if you didn’t already, it’s great.

Infinite is also really great although the story begin to get a bit convoluted.

Oh didnt realise about the dlc. Will check that out thanks! Got all the little sisters but harvested most of them to max out my Adam. Disgusted with myself :joy:

Bramble: The Mountain King

Had never heard of this game before it popped up in game pass. Played for a short while and wass a bit put off as it gave the impression of a game for young kids. Couldn’t have been more wrong. Things got really dark really quick.

Gameplay is pretty simplistic but worth a go if you are fan of dark tales.
