It’s actually nice to have someone into EDM (how it’s called lately at least, hehe) in here It’s often looked as “dumb music”, but there’s such a variety, depth and technicality to it that it manages to surprise me to this day as the genres evolve. To this day I have dubstep, electrohouse, drum ‘n’ bass, and even the occasional techno-trance stuff in heavy rotation.
This is by Nanowar of Steel. A Italian parody band of all the " True Metal" bands. they have some really well done covers of classic metal with their twist but their best work is their Original songs. This is their ballad of the Norse Vikings and Odin throwing away their blood soaked history to settle down and make IKEA. A suprise appearance by Angus Mc Fife from Glory hammer as Odin just tops off a brilliant song.
This is Balrog Boogie by Diablo Swing Orchestra. I came across them back in 2009 alongside Nanowar of Steel. They ended up giving me permission to use this track as the theme to a podcast I did. They have become a mainstay in my music tastes with the blend of Operatic vocals, Metal Guitar, cello, trumpets and trombone and a near hypnotic beat that stays in your head.
I have a tonne that I could throw up but these 3 are at the top.
@TheScarecrow101 I did NOT expect to get Nanowar of Steel in here, that’s for sure, haha. They have so many hilarious things, this might be my favourite personally:
But speaking of serious music and Diablo Swing Orchestra, if you have never did, check out unexpecT’s album In A Flesh Aquarium. One of the few albums I consider to be 10/10 masterpieces.
Your recommendation is in the playlist for tomorrow at work. My music taste is eclectic at best, A fucking mess at worst. Glad to find someone else who knows Nanowar of Steel.
Nothing wrong about that. You’ll find me discuss and post anything here: metal, rock, pop, trap, dubstep, electro-house, neoclassical, you name it really. Have no interest in coherence, I listen to what I like and nobody can judge me
Let me know what you think of the song/album when you get around! I love it so much ever since it came out.
The last few weeks I am listening to 4 albums: Doolittle by Pixies, The Head on the Door by The Cure, Loveless by My Bloody Valentine and So Tonight That I Might See by Mazzy Star so I will post a song from each album.
Listening to some more recent stuff by Shoot the Girl First again. They changed a lot throughout the years and this was probably their best iteration. Hope to see more albums in this vein from them in the future.
