About a week or two ago I had found out one of my favorite artists, Salami Rose Joe Louis, had made a song with another artist named strongboi. It put me in a psychedelic-ish mood so i’ve been listening to surf rock with a side of dream pop since then lol.

I never really imagined Sarah to be into s̶y̶n̶t̶h̶w̶a̶v̶e̶ trance. They’re not as “up and at 'em” as Sarahs but these are probably my two favorite synth tracks.

That genre is Trance and could be considered Uplifting Trance. If she grew up in the 80s/90s then it makes since considering that Trance got big in the mid '90s to mid-2000s.

Ah alright. Thanks for the correction and possible explanation. I post in this thread often yet I can’t even point out trance music if it were to save my life lol.

No worries, there are thousands of genres and subgenres of music, there’s no way to know it all. We learn over time. I’ve learned so much about about 50s to 70s music, stuff before my time, through YouTube.

When COVID started I got into the history of Japanese Citypop, stuff that influenced most of the videogame music I grew up with, and how it was rooted in blues, jazz, and funk.

Actually, here are some examples of how City Pop influenced Japanese game composers.

This stuff you just know influenced Jun Senoue and composers at SEGA:

Anyways I had zero clue 2 years ago until I went down that rabbit hole. And I’m learning so much from this thread too.

I was meaning to post an update here because I’ve been listening to one alternative music YouTube channel from the Netherlands “3voor12”, after my bro was on it, and it introduced me to so many great indie bands.

So as a result I’ve had some songs stuck in my head:

I gotta leave it there due to time but seriously I could put on anything random from the 3voor12 recordings and it’s great. They’re a great curator.

Triptych was the first album that I bought from The Tea Party and was my introduction to them since I bought it based on a magazine review, still my favorite album from them even if this is an unpopular opinion. I can’t believe that Triptych is 23 years old…I feel like it was only a few years back that I bought this. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

@Hearthian not sure are you familiar with Tedeschi Trucks Band who just released two albums during June & July. Not sure how to describe them as they have so much going on from blues, rock, jazz, soul, gospel, funk, country, and even eastern influences. Definitely not a band you can get the feel for by just listening to one of their songs! :exploding_head:

I haven’t heard of them but had started listening to the after your post. This is good stuff! It’s the kind of music that makes me think of going on a road trip lol. I Am The Moon is great. I think my favorite so far is Rainy Day from the second part. Thanks for letting me know about this band! From what i’ve read there’s two other parts their releasing over the next two months. I’ll have to keep an eye out for them.

For like the last month i’ve been listening to rock-ish type stuff and I can feel this music pulling me back towards the jazz and blues genre lol.
