Some sick 70’s fusion between jazz and progressive rock. https://youtu.be/jdt4V2s-AHQ https://youtu.be/RycYchunTKc My song obsession of the day. Can’t help but nod my head. https://youtu.be/yTtsS4SsfKM

Merry Christmas everyone! As a special occasion (And maybe even for the successful James Webb telescope launch) I thought i’d tell everyone about one of my most favorite artists, Salami Rose Joe Louis. If I had to fit her into a genre it would be chill/bedroom pop. But the vibes she has in her music gives me the feeling of wanting to snuggle in bed while stargazing. The kind of keyboard she uses is this old vintage one from the 90’s and it really gives her music a nice, warm, yet outer space feeling that she really leans into.
While she was making her first two albums, “Son of a Sauce!”, and “Zlaty Sauce Nephew,” she worked as a climate scientist in a lab. With her third album “Zdenda 2080,” she decided to leave her lab job behind to focus more on making music. She then signed with Flying Lotus’ record label “Brainfeeder” and with this album is the start of her own sci-fi story.
Planet Earth. Year 2080. In this album she tells the story of how the rich and wealthy humans of the future capture the energy of the sun, using it to power a massive spaceship the size of a large city. What they plan to do is leave Earth to find a better planet to fit them, meanwhile the people left behind are suffering, losing energy because they no longer have a bright sun to sustain them.
The main character of the album is named Salami, one of the people left behind. She comes across one of the rooms left behind by one of the deserters, an eight walled room with eight paintings. Over the course of the album she’s sucked into these paintings with an old man named Zeeanori narrating her journey. Eventually she finds out what the paintings actually mean and how they’re connected to this “Earth Creature.”
Her fourth and last released album, “Chapters of Zdenka,” is more of an “extras” album that has songs that didn’t quite fit the main story of her last album, some personal issues that she wanted to get off her chest, along with a few remixes of past songs.
I’ll admit that some of her songs can be really quirky but I still love her music. I believe she said for her next album the subject she would talk about is propaganda, but whatever the subject matter is im so eagerly awaiting it’s release!
I used to work at a retail job in 2000 while I was at uni and they let us make a Christmas mix CD where we all chose a song. This is what I chose:
I was a pretty big Charlie Lownoise and Mental Theo fan so it wasn’t a troll or anything. Someone did have a troll song on that mix CD… https://youtu.be/xam01uaj6Vg
I actually sort of love it lol
On my Bowie mood. This one is special to me; seemingly catchy, upbeat tunes but the lyrics and themes are just… theodical with existential confusion.
It’s also quite relevant today and always, basically like lot of Bowie’s work, almost prophetic.
Might have been listening to too much 70’s fusion since it’s starting to recommend me more 70’s bands. I don’t do drugs but I decided to try out this album cuz the image on the front looked like a shroom so I thought “an album from the 70’s with a shroom on the cover should be pretty gnarly!” It’s not as psychedelic as I wast as expecting but I still don’t mind it. I like having the violin in their band. https://youtu.be/WhzDBGiOTvg A really nice piece with a violin, piano and flamenco guitar. https://youtu.be/1m5V8zbyR2M If anyone likes violins they should really check out the ost to Echochrome. I feel like it has a really underrated soundtrack.
The second game added a piano and it’s… Way too freaking beautiful.
New Nas
Nas dropped 3 albums in the past 2 years. Looks like Hit Boy unleashed Nas from 20 years ago.
