Looks like that article from a whole back about the people who made rules being removed because of change in the rules could have been accurate.

How often has CoD been beaten in the last decade?

2009! Crazy huh? What’s even more frustrating is that it didn’t get nominated for any of the big game awards due to politics. I feel sorry for the devs not getting the recognition they deserve.

I think we can guarantee Hogwarts 2 will be bigger and better in every way.

I’m not really sure where you would expect it to win anything. Best military shooter? Most popular FPS? Maybe best ongoing for warzone, but even there I think there were more deserving titles overlooked (eg. Halo Infinite).

I meant Hogwarts didn’t get nominated

Oh, sorry. Yeah I know, but honestly I get it. Harry Potter/Hogwarts is just too intrinsically tied to JKR, and well
fuck her. As someone who has loved Harry Potter for a very long time, and it’s one of the few things my very emotionally stunted family can connect on (that and the Toronto Blue Jays), I refuse to let her take that away from me. That said, I wish she no longer had anything to do with it.

#FuckJKR

Edit: Also, maybe we shouldn’t reduce human rights to “politics”.

It was also a pretty bland run of the mill ubi-style license game. If it’s not by Sony it won’t get nominated.

Both my kids are huge fans too. I’m currently surrounded by Ravenclaw and Gryffindor merch. I just wanted to touch on your edit that I wasn’t trying to shrug off JKR’s actions, I just didn’t want to get into that in this thread and I really don’t want to discuss political ideologies on a gaming forum full stop.

I was just trying to make the point that I don’t think the studio or the devs themselves should be judged by her actions for making a incredible game.

Yeah, nothing exceptional about Hogwarts Legacy outside sales, but that’s the power of license and the fact it is the first modern game using that IP.

Palworld is a similar thing, the Pokémon thirst of actual modern games is the source of its success.

Hogwarts probably deserved more recognition than it was ever going to get for obvious reasons but I also don’t believe it was good enough or did anything worthy of award nominations

The truth is it’s somewhere in the middle, carried by a much loved IP

Yeah, I am okay with the game nominated because I thought it was mid, but nice for a Harry Potter game because that franchise had some awful games . I don’t think they game deserved to be in any discussion for goty or best of in a category .

Honestly, as a kid I really enjoyed the ea movie tie ins. Probably didn’t age great but for the time they were decent.

We’ve only seen Steam sales so far but it’s obviously being heavily played on Xbox, it beat Fortnite in the US

Lmao nice to see because it seems like bad actors were creating FUD about the game not being popular on Xbox

WoAh! 200 minutes played on average for that one day
that’s over 3 hours. That means some people were played A LOT of hours to make up for the people that played and dropped it quickly.

I wonder if Avatar is considered “disappointing” in sales expectation.

It has to be.

2 months after release it’ll only see a gradual drip of further sales via discounts now.

My message to Ubisoft: stop thinking ‘safe’ investments are safe (they’re not, i.e. not even Ass Creed is immune from bombing) & give me Splinter Cell reboot with full AAA production values.

Do that right & I’ll be there day one.

I would assume. Its a licensed game so that alone wasn’t cheap.
