I think it’s more of an indication of how powerful gamepass is if you debut it day 1 in there. In terms of the merits of the game itself ? It usually shows in the 2nd and 3rd week.
For example, Minecraft Legends cratered like a rock after the first week. Fell out of the top 50 list for most played. While High On Life actually became more popular in it’s 2nd week. Rose to 3rd most played game on Xbox.
I am on the xbox console store right now and Redfall is #15 on most played list. This list includes all xbox games, which is impressive. It goes to show you even if a game flops critically people are willing to try it of on service. Unsure if this game gets the high on life treatment where it didn’t do well with critics, but loved by fans.
If I am a developer I would look at stuff like that and be enticed to put games on gamepass if I feel it may not be a hit at launch and hope word of mouth via gamepass helps
Yeah, we’ve seen success stories like High on Life and Vampire Survivor. I think Vampire Survivor was released months before it launched on Gamepass, but it wasn’t until it hit Gamepass when people went crazy for it. Also, High on Life word of mouth helped it reach steam top 10 in sales, so I think it’s worth a gamble if you’re a dev since it’s not always easy to get people to play your game
My son has a sticker chart that he fills every 3-4 weeks and when he fills the chart he gets a switch game. I’d rather buy a switch game then some toy he won’t play with. At least physical games have resale value too. When a new game system comes out we can just trade them in and it will probably be enough GameStop credit for a console and a few games.
He’s an autistic 7 year old that struggles with being independent. Most of his stickers come from going to the bathroom without being asked. Brushing teeth. Stuff like that. Also he’s an only child so he would probably be getting spoiled regardless We bond over gaming, I’m really proud of him this week because he seems to finally be getting the hang of using a mouse. He’s been using an Xbox controller and iPad for years but the mouse has been a learning experience.
It’s been 15 months since the launch, the games been on 2 platforms with a total install base of over 150 mil (as of the most recent hardware reports) and was bundled through the wazoo for at least a good 3ish months of that.
It’s barely, if at all, outperforming HZD launch aligned, which was only on one platform with a much smaller install base. Plus compared to GOWR (another sequel) the numbers really ain’t that hot.
Congratulations Sony on announcing true sales of the games and not some useles players numbers. And congrats to HFW for outselling Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, Hifi Rush COMBINED.
Now let’s see Redfall, Hifi-Rush, FH5 & Halo Infinite sales
Horizon 3 is surely going to melt eyeballs. If Forbidden West looks that good being cross gen, I can’t imagine what a next gen only finale will look like. Burning Shores of course is still using the cross gen engine just with added cloud tech
Eh, we don’t know Microsoft numbers, so we don’t now how many copies are sold. However, if you look at the DLC content we can see with Forza Horizon 5 there’s 4million+ people that either bough the early release bundle, season pass, or DLC separately. Plus, Forza Horizon 5 charted on UK boxed sales chart and same with NPD
Why make a base level of 300 million per month in recurring service revenue when you can make 588 million over the course of 15 months and jerk off about numbers!? LOL REKT
I know Id much rather have 560,000/month people buy a full price game over the course over 15 months than have 30 million people pay me a base of $9.99 whether they played a game or not. The twitter clout about sales numbers is worth the trade off! #LOLREKTMAXIMUMBUSINESSGOSONY
I never had to ignore so many people on here as I did the last 2 weeks. Some of you should try it instead of giving an obvious troll the attention they crave.
