I mean, we run a small server stack where I work for army simulation purposes and we do have several 40Gbit connections (internal network of course) so Id say it’s quite fast, but maybe not data center fast? I’ve never worked in one but I’d assume they do much more than that plus they’d definitely have some overhead.
But still, I don’t know how big MS’s datacenters are so maybe once the one they are building nearby is ready I’ll go have a look lol, but I’m trying l picture 5000 Series X blades and I assume it must be quite big! Do we even have pictures of those like they had for the One S blades?
Wonder how many U’s thick they are. but also, I think each One S blade was 4 Xbox One S in a single server blade; wonder if they are fitting less Series X in each.
There’s a picture in this article that supposedly is for the Series X blade - looks like 2U to me? And still appears to be 4. Granted this is a 3 year old design & who knows if they’ve changed things up at all in the meantime.
Yup, it’s what I’ve been saying because last gen was about building digital ecosystem through ps+/gwg, and digital purchases . A person is not likely to surrender their 100+ games unless building a gaming PC . I think only way around it is person buys an Xbox Tommy’s second console and subs to gamepass and might be enticed to build an ecosystem there .
Spencer is in an impossible situation when he’s asked about consoles. What’s he going to say? “our consoles are getting crushed by the PS5, we’re screwed”
?
No. He’ll always look for positives because that’s what the company wants & that’s what the shareholders want. We know how this works. It’s a very difficult situation because the Series X in particular is just not living up to the initial branding about its power. Not when Redfall landed the way it did & not when third party games perform better on the PS5 due to devs focusing on the platform with the highest sales.
But they really do need to be careful not to kill console sales entirely by going off on a PC, mobile + cloud tangent. There are people who have multiple platforms & absolutely will get both a PS5 & Xbox Series to play great games.
I know this because I’m one of them. My best time in gaming was when I would jump from playing Uncharted on the PS3 to Halo 3 on the 360. And it was affordable back then as well.
If you’re talking about younger generation then they might be influenced by older siblings and relatives. A lot of the time with younger audience their parents will ask a person which console or game to get.
I just think it’s an uphill battle for Microsoft to make a person go from a PS4 to Xbox Series X/S. I think key is to make xbox an enticing platform where e a person is forced to make it their 2nd console due to games they’ll be missing out on.
Going to start posting this sort of data for now on. Engagement is just as important as sales for Xbox so it’s rather silly if I don’t post them as well.
Redfall debuted @ 16th. #2 on Gamepass.
How it measures up with other recent debuts on the US’s most played game list.

Charted less than Hi Fi Rush and Forspoken on Steam.
Hopefully this is from more consistent hours being played on Xbox. Which could mean more people are giving the game a chance even with the low review scores.
