Microsoft today announced that it will be working with publishers to bring price reductions to its Xbox 360 digital storefront as the deadline for its shutdown approaches. Announced back in August of 2023, the Xbox 360’s online store will be shuttering on the 29th of July this year, leaving behind a wealth of video games, downloadable content, avatar items, and media behind. Backwards compatible titles will remain purchasable on Xbox One and Series consoles, but the 360 will only be able to download purchased titles and media (provided it hasn’t been taken down by now).
“To celebrate the legacy of Xbox 360, we’re working with our amazing publishing partners to bring you as many price reductions from our online store or from the Xbox 360 Store on the console. We’ll be updating this list with more games on June 18, 2024, and on July 16, 2024, bringing you as many repriced games as possible before the end of July. These price reductions will remain in place for each game through the 360 store closing on July 29, 2024.”
UPDATE: The list has been updated as part of the 18th of June update. One more will follow on the 16th of July for the Xbox 360 Store.
Check out the whole list at the announcement blog post or keep an eye out below—this page will be updated as time marches on. Almost but not quite an end of an era.
Hopefully games like Fallout 3 and New Vegas will be added to the list. I have them on disc, but I’d be willing to buy them again, if I could get them for cheap.
bought Black, Bionic Commando, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Yie Ar Kung-Fu for 8 bucks. Nice sale!
No, but.
After the store closes at the end of July you can only access your purchased games through the download history on the 360. And this list is slow and buggy right now already. So better download it all asap.
There are also games with some weird content packages for season passes etc. Some games download this stuff on the first start with the help of the ingame store. This will probably not work anymore after the 360 store closes.
Here is what i am doing:
buy every game and dlc i still want to play on 360 (its not a lot)
download this stuff to the hard drive or usb stick
download every game which is not bc to my 360 hard drive from my download history
start the game and see if there is any free or mandatory dlc to download
Black is the only one i know of but there might be more in the list. Maybe some Lego game. I think there were more in the initial list Xbox then redacted (like Splinter Cell?).
There will be a last sale in the middle of July so just wait.
I’ve been waiting for Deadly Premonition to go on sale but im just now realizing that if it ever did then it was probably on the old store. I’ve only been keeping an eye on it on the new store.
I caved in and bought Kens Rage 1 and 2 at full price. It’s whatever though Koei Tecmo games never go on sale and Kens Rage 2 physical copies go for around 200$
I was having trouble getting the purchase to go through earlier but after a few attempts I was able to pick up Homefront for $0.49. 3-hour campaign apparently, and it’s not supposed to be that great of a COD clone, but for 49 cents… lol.
Curious to see what the third round of sales includes.
Hey so I’m assuming once the store is shutdown there will be no way to redownload purchases right? I’m wondering if I should back up all downloads to an external hard drive or something if that’s even possible?
