As long as they are timed exclusives, I’m not too bothered. It will damage the Xbox brand a bit though.

He’s probably right about these deals being cheaper for Sony, though. That said, I much prefer the Game Pass push over timed exclusivity for sure.
I would just take anything said on forums not from proven credible people with heavy grains of salt.

That’s not insider information, that’s a guess. And any random person on the internet can have them.
I find that hard to believe, Microsoft can afford anything if they really really want it. It may be the case that they feel the price is too much, and therefore are declining it but there is no way they simply can’t afford it.

I agree. But proven and credible are wildly subjective. There are many supposed insiders on the various internet spaces and journalists on social media who I feel have such a clear agenda yet are regarded as absolute unbiased truth beacons. Not naming names so as to not derail the thread or cast aspersions.
I don’t really get why Sony does this. PS5 will more than likely have the majority of sales anyway since it’ll be vastly more popular.
I know an industry insiders who claimed to know the future but failed.

Why was SFV exclusive in the first place? Was it just Sony throwing money at it?
I don’t like timed exclusives, unless they’re games where the game wouldn’t exist without a console manufacturer’s input. But just simply throwing money and saying take £x for Game Y to be exclusive for 12 months really does suck, and that goes for when Microsoft does the same.
I will say, it feels even worse for games that are known to be multiplatform such as Final Fantasy (and Tomb Raider for that matter).
I also think it’s even worse still, when it’s a large publisher like Square Enix, they don’t need Sony or Microsoft’s money, their games typically sell well regardless and all they’re doing are denying fans of their games the opportunity to play them.
As a gamer, it sucks, because I want to buy and play these games on Xbox when they do eventually come to the console to show their is a market for them, but also, I want to vote with my wallet. For example, I won’t be picking up Marvel’s Avengers due to the Spider Man controversy, but also, will that justify their decision to take Sony’s money?
SFV had to get rebooted and after Capcom already spent so much on the project, they jumped to the chance of getting financial assistance from Sony.
True but the one that’s doing the inquiring/asking can always be rejected by the one that’s being pursued. To me, it’s all about if the offer gets accepted or rejected and in this case, that’s completely on Square Enix.
Square Enix has a few JRPG’s exclusive to PS4/Switch, has done a few timed exclusives and now Spider Man content being fully exclusive to the PS4/PS5 so I simply wouldn’t be surprised if FFXVI or any other Square Enix game were to be a full or timed console PS5 exclusive. But we’ll see.

I also wonder if sony knows that games will look and play better on series x so they are money hatting so that even though marvel avengers will look better on xbox they are saying we got exclusive content. Graphically you cant compare a game that’s also timed exclusive

I think the internet is over reacting to this rumors. We have to put this thing in the context of this year news, like everybody say MS show It’s gonna have a lot of mic drops or Sony show was gonna be some crazy things, was good but no mind blowing.
The amount of people I am seeing “happy” or non caring about these money hats is astounding to me because the vitriol I have heard and seen when Xbox goes after a major title.
