Its not just about "waiting a few years " for a game. There is a reason Sony uses this tactic. Its proven to undermind the competition by making their platform seem less viable. They’ve been doing it since the Ps1 when they paid Eidos to snatch Tomb Raider 2 off the Saturn. (The irony of Sony fanboys and gaming media getting mad about it was not lost on me)
I always go back to this post from the other site that illustrates perfectly, why i dislike this practice and have zero remorse for PS owners “losing out”.
I mean the cross fire point is just more of an argument against money hats. They hardly seem to elevate the games but are just more money for the publishers. I do think indies can profit from them though.
Street Fighter is a game that should be selling 10+ million copies every release. With the game going exclusive, Capcom left somewhere around 200 million on the table. Maybe more.
Whenever I see that referenced, I try to point people to the Community Corner column here in Xboxera by that same poster, in which he further fleshes out those thoughts:
I feel like it didn’t get seen by nearly enough people when it was first posted, so I like to help give it some attention from time to time.
Yet you have people still trying to downplay it, and compare deals like Crossfire X to a Final Fantasy or Streetfighter. Also ignoring the huge backlash when Xbox had Tomb Raider from not just fans but the Gaming Media itself, VS when Sony does it.
Again, just say you’re salty when Sony does it…Microsoft does it all the time, Nintendo too…THEY ALL DO lol.
Can’t be mad about it when they’re all doing it…
I only brought up Crossfire X because you brought up the state of SFV’s launch with “Sony’s money” so I was just making the point that the same could be said for Microsoft…do I blame MS for that? No I don’t, just like I don’t blame Sony for SFV.
Eh it’s really not worth arguing over…the deals are going to continue to happen, no matter what anyone says.
