You mean Sony losing another exclusive?
I don’t get how Sony keeps getting away with this without backlash. If Microsoft did this it would be a scandal (see tomb raider) and universally decried as “anticonsumer” “asshole” etc.
(I do actually get “why”, it’s not exactly a mystery, average consoomer is stupid, but it’s still very telling)
I think they are slowing starting to get some backlash. It feels like the attitude towards their exclusivity is becoming more hostile among the online community.
I may have posted this before, but I think the media and a lot of people view Playstation as the “default” console you are going to get anyway, so moneyhats don’t “affect” you, so Xbox doing it is an “inconvenience” and they are “forcing” you to get it.
This sentiment is going away though, and I do notice this:
more often now. It’s especially bad when they also withhold the game from PC like FFXVI.
Yeah, also PC community is pretty vocal but Sony will slowly gain points by releasing more games on PC.
It will change (slowly) over the course of the generation as the PS/Xbox market share becomes less lopsided.
The reality is people only react if it affects them personally. So Rise of the Tomb Raider was treated as a major scandal while FF16 barely elicits a shrug. As more people play on Xbox, they’ll be vocal about their disappointment when moneyhats happen.
Getting away with what….making exclusive deals for their console?
Stop….like they’re just strong arming these developers into these deals, I’m sure MS had the same opportunities to make the same deals (in fact we know this to be the case with KOTOR, Marvel, etc.).
We can’t praise acquisitions and get excited but then wanna go in on timed exclusives just because it isn’t XBox making the deal…it’s all just business.
The problem is while "it’s all just business " only one gets called out for doing it , while the other does it and nothing is said. So i will continue to call them out for it while praising acquisitions. Because acquiring a developer, and giving them more resources to make games isn’t the same as paying a publisher to keep games off another console. Especially when their console was getting the game anyway and it doesn’t really benefit the gammers on that console.
Oops, wrong thread.
If you think XBox is acquiring publishers and teams for this all virtuous reason than ok lol….
There’s plenty of 3rd party exclusive stuff on ALL consoles and platforms…
There really is nothing to call out anyone on if we’re being honest.
Im not sure how you came to that conclusion from what i posted. Im just stating facts. I mean just one look at SFV and how it launched despite Sony “funding” it vs say, Psychonaughts 2 able to expand their game thanks to actual backing should make the point just fine.
I mean SFV sold 6 mil. copies so yeah uh I’d say it did just fine lol…
Yeeeeahhh I mean. I understan the frustration of xbox players with the timed exclusivity and all but…MS just deprived PS from legendary franchises such as TES or DOOM and every future content from Zenimax and it’s on it’s way do to the same in some capacity with Activision the largest third party publisher in the world (if the deal go through of course) compared to that, waiting 1 or two years at most is…nothing really
It’s why I never get angry with exclusives and acquisitions…we forget it’s a business and EVERYONE does it.
It is what it is….there’s gonna be cool games to play no matter where you play is how I look at it.
Defaulting to sales (and pretty sure sold less than IV) when i was clearly talking about the state that the game launched in and how long it took to right itself. Where did Sony’s cash go exactly? Clearly it wasn’t the game’s development. Anyway as xbox regains marketshare, the more rare these deals become.
Still remember tomb raider. Was pretty disgusting the reaction.
Talking about a state of a game where did MS’ cash go with Crossfire X….? I mean we can flip this around however you’d like…would that be fair?
None of it matters. The deals are still going to happen on both sides, no reason to be salty about it.
It seems like you’re just not ok with it because Sony is the one doing it.
