Ok, I got an answer from the devs:
The game is optimised for Xbox Series X|S, and when played on an Xbox Series X|S will benefit from higher resolution and enhanced visuals. However, we’ve been made aware of an FPS issue on Xbox, and can assure you the team is working hard to fix this.
I insisted and asked if the optimizations are due to a native version or only via backwards compatibility. I even asked if I had the wrong version downloaded. This was their answer:
I believe you’ve downloaded the right version, but the team is hard at work on hashing out some performance issues with the Xbox version of the game too.

The Elder Scrolls Online is showing up as optimized, but I don’t think the patch is live yet. It was due tomorrow, but it was delayed to June 15 on consoles.

Now I got an official clarification from Xbox:
Sniper: Ghost Warrior – Contracts 2 is not optimized for the Series X|S.

Maybe they got cold feet about the optics of Xbox having a next generation exclusive due to PS5 “technical issues “. This is odd to say the least but in some ways it makes sense to delay both versions until the PS5 gets its bugs worked out.

The game is now Optimized for the Series X|S.
A patch went live today fixing the problems with the next-gen version. I can confirm that the game is now listed under “Series X|S games” on my console.

But yeah, everything surrounding was very iffy to say the least. Here is what a Xbox Store Marketing rep said to me today (sorry, it’s in Portuguese – but it’s basically what I said on my last post).

No patch notes yet, though. There’s a chance that this is only the Blackwood chapter update, and that the optimizations are still coming next week.
We do know that the Star Wars patch is coming on June 11!

It was like this before the patch aswell. Star Wars is like that aswell, even though the patch isn’t coming until Friday. I remember Destiny showed as optimized a couple of days before the patch aswell.

Oh didnt notice. Ill test it out tomorrow and check if its out ahead of schedule.
I own like every dlc besides the new one and I cant make time for it.

@brunopcosta1 No actual options in game that I could find to toggle visual settings yet despite it saying X|S as we talked last night. It is currently Gen 9 aware in the File Info which is interesting.

It was released in December for both Mobile and PC and it holds a high 84 score on OpenCritic. Definitely a game to keep an eye on!
