The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12th

CGI trailers are perfectly fine for game reveals. The show should just be balanced with enough gameplay showcases from other games… The “problem” with CGI trailers was brought due to most of the XGS games from the 2020 show being mostly cgi and not enough gameplay was shown outside of Halo Infinite - which itself didn’t help due to how underwhelming it looked at the time lol-

But for example Redfall CGI trailer was not that great.

CGI fest during the showcase is a separate matter though, but I think it happened due to lack of games. Now it is should not be a problem as the main concern right now is how to fit all the games in the showcase.

They’re still gonna reveal new games, those will more likely be CGI trailers.

Maybe, but I am still of the opinion that CGI trailers should be used for either legendary games (like for example Perfect Dark was fine as people immediately though about the previous games, so they could imaging the new game) or highly anticipated titles (like for example logo of TES6 is enough).

For new games, CGI trailers do nothing. They are mainly done to attract the talent I guess.

Redfall CGI trailer was too long too, almost 5 minutes. If you’re going to do CGI make it like a minute or two.

Yeah, that too. Now that I think about it was really kinda long. I think they should have gone with Avowed length trailer which was a minute and a half.

But interesting that for example The Outer Worlds 2 announcement which was also CGI that contained nothing aside logo that probably represents a game (lol) was considered because with the game itself, you knew what to expect. I think just logo was enough for the announcement.

Personally I’d be fine with a poster with a date on it like Marvel movies and roadmap :man_shrugging:

This please.

Also this.

Glad MS ain’t listening to y’all. Give me five minute plus CGI trailers and 15+ minute deep dive into Starfield.

I’m good with 15 minutes of Starfield, but 5 minute CG trailers is wild

Might as well ask to make 20 minute animation :joy: Make Xbox Showcases into mini-binge anime series :fire: They can ask Blizzard to help with that.

Radfall has a great cinematic trailer that shows the concept, style and other details of what the game will be like. I don’t understand the complaint in this thread.

A lot of people want something that resembled Prey or Dishonored or some gothic vampire vibe and when it wasn’t that, dismay ensued.

So 20 minutes of seeing a character breathing, I mean Powering Up to the next level. Sounds great!

lol a 5 minute CGI trailer is not uncommon at all in the gaming industry.

You now remember when Nintendo did their E3 show using Robot Chicken.

It’s hard to tell because it would be a newly revealed game. I guess my realistic wishlist is

-New JRPG announcement, Xbox marketing rights. Bonus points if it’s not from Bandai Namco or Sega

-Game Pass additions with Persona (3/4/5, any of them) or FF7R being major additions

-Bandai Namco game announcement

We won’t be seeing any JP exclusives here, or for a long time yet I feel.

For new reveals, two minute CGI trailers is fine but afterwards, gameplay trailer is necessary in my opinion because CGI doesn’t tell me a damn thing about what your game is unless it’s a sequel or reboot to an already known franchise.

Personally, I wish every game would follow Horizon Zero Dawn’s E3 2015 reveal. In-game story trailer followed by a five or so minute gameplay trailer. This is what I would choose for every game’s reveal if it was up to me.

Surprise Killer Instinct 2 announcement by Bandai.
