No you are right and is what I was referring to. If the game managed to maintain the first segment it would be a shoe in but it doesn’t, and although it does not crash and burn it is definitely more mediocre.
At least we know 100% meta score has zero effect on your chance of being nominated.

It’s funny because 99% of these outlets who gave Forza the highest rated game of the year wouldn’t ever think of voting for it when it comes to the actual GOTY awards.
I’m guilty of not ever thinking about putting a racing game in the GOTY discussions tbh. Hopefully the stigma around that genre will fade away someday.

Yup, its crazy to ignore a genre because it’s not a story game. I really don’t understand how a game that is a technical masterpiece, highest rated game of the year on metacritic, but going to snub it because a racing game. I figured out Forza would never get nominated when it didn’t get nominated in 2014 which was a weak year. That year Dragon age won and it was weak
