I mean, he could change the “Meh, that’s the way it is”-things if he wanted though. Asking if they always nominate one game from each, when he knows Xbox isn’t normally in? Thinking there is only 10 good games per year. Mentioning Ongoing games without adressing Sea of Thieves. Creating controversy for clicks ( a pet peeve of mine). Yeah, no.
It’s a 2D game so it must be inferior and a “timekiller” before the main dish huh…
I don’t get opinions like these, oh well it’s probably why last year a masterpiece like Ori 2 wasn’t nominated…which was utterly ridiculous.
I may be misrembering the phrase in fairness to the Keegs. I was in the dollar store at the time. But yeah, 2D deserves more love.
RE8 won their GOTY award.
I’m surprised, honestly. I enjoyed the game quite a bit, but I feel like that game had largely come and gone since launch.
Happy 2022 everyone! The year is done, right? Right?
They have 2 actually (Critics (just one category) / Players (all the other categories))
Awesome!!! I voted for Ratchet. Let’s go baby!!!
Fan voting doesn’t even close until December, but maybe this will motivate me to vote.
Ratchet isn’t even in the top 3 of that list, never mind the stuff that was blatantly left off it.
Sadly this is the case for almost all the big releases these days…we hurry to go after the next big thing, Little Nightmares 2 is another game that is completely “forgotten” and nowhere to be found in these awards that I really loved and thought that it deserved some mentions so…it is what it is.
Why the fuck are these sites in such a rush to announce winners when it’s not even December and there’s still coming a huge fuckin’ game that is called Halo Infinite? I seriously don’t get it.
So they’re embracing the meme? Pretty brave.
No disrespect, but Ratchet winning GOTY is just bad vibes all around, in my opinion. That series has never done anything for me, and Rift Apart certainly didn’t change that.
this is probably internet users votes.
Maybe, still weird that they would leak this.
Wouldn’t be shocked if that’s the actual winner though with how predictable this award show is.
R&C was always another “oh that one too” mid-tier in terms of hype for Playstation fans franchise, this year with Rift Apart was the first time that the game in this series was that much hyped both from Playstation and the fans. I surely enjoyed the games that I’ve played in the series but aside from maybe A Crack in Time which had some really cool ideas all of them were pretty good but never reached greatness IMO.
Still as other guys already said in this thread it’s weird seeing R&C over Returnal on the nominees seeing how loved Returnal is among the PS community, maybe Sony is pushing R&C more than Returnal due to a higher possible sales potential of the former and the low sales of the latter? I guess we’ll never know that one.
No disrespect taken bud. I have only played 7 2021 games with 3 to go. Halo Infinite (which is what im expecting to be my 2021 goty once I complete it), Lost Judgment and Biomutant. But thus far, out of the 7 I have completed, Rift Apart was the best game for me where as others were more disappointing than anything.
In general, 2021 reminds me of 2014 which was a weak year that saw Dragon Age Inquisition win overall game of the year (not sure about The Game Awards show itself) so any game could win. Only reason I want Ratchet to win is because as of now, it’s my current game of the year.
Back to Ratchet, I never played the old games and only started with the 2016 remake/reboot. My only negative with Rift Apart was that the underwater section was disappointing compared to 2016. Other than that, I loved the game and im hoping for a Rivet spin off game similar to Miles Morales.
I think it has more to do with Ratchet being rated higher, better sales, being more accessible and it’s an actual franchise that’s been around since PS2 where as Returnal isn’t as accessible and was a new IP.
Lot’s of next gen newness.
I’ll only watch the sony awa…I mean game awards for announcements.
