The Series X & Backwards Compatibility

To start off, here is what we know:

  1. The Same BC team who did the stellar job on the Xbox One are working on the Series X BC

  2. All BC titles will make full use of the SX

  3. Curated games will get enhancements (better resolution, HDR etc.)

  4. Some titles will even get a frame rate boost (this is dope)

  5. EVERY BC game & EVERY One game will be playable right off the bat (this is beyond insane)

Here is what we do not know:

Will more BC games be add to the List?

This is where the discussion comes in. If more titles are added to the list, which do you want to see? Here’s my list:

Jet Set Radio Future

Sega GT 2002

Would be awesome if my copy of Blue Dragon loaded up instantly when transitioning to fights. Also interested in seeing the patch for Gears 5, and how Jedi Fallen Order plays in performance mode

Just to let both of you know, Shenmue II is already available on Xbox One. So the chances of the Xbox version being made BC is quite slim.

Ryse enhanced can go head to head in terms of graphics with almost every next gen game. It is time for games like Ryse and Sunset Overdrive to be enhanced.

God damn! Thats a good one. 4K/60FPS locked with HDR

Ah right, thanks, forgot about it.

I’m excited as hell for BC but to temper expectations, I don’t think all BC games will be enhanced. The quote below from the latest Xbox Wire article specifically says its a curated list, so similar to the Xbox One X Enhanced BC titles.

Our back compat team continues to develop new innovations that can be applied to a curated list of titles that will enhance them even further than was possible when they were originally created. These optimizations include the ability to render titles with increased resolutions up to 4K, delivering new HDR reconstruction techniques to games that were developed years before HDR came into existence, applying anisotropic filtering to improve image quality, and creating ways to increase or double the frame rate of certain titles.

I’ll edit that. Thanks :+1:.
