The Initiative game could be not the game we are waiting for

If the game is visually amazing most of the GA won’t care about the format, they’ll see shiny graphics and be pleased, there will be a small amount of outrage from certain sections about the format sure, but the game launches day one on Gamepass, what’s there to complain about? you are not forced to spend $70 on this game.

I think there will be lots of outrage only if the game is episodic and visually unimpressive, given the talent they have I don’t think it’s too much to expect the game to excel in at least graphics or gameplay/design. (considering the length they are going for)

Why the ‘concern’? Another episodic game was just nominated for Game Of The Year and nobody complained :woman_shrugging:

Just bring some huge AAA games from MS’ first party already, enough is enough. Tired of waiting and then reading news like this. It is either multiplayer-only, GAAS or as a platform (whatever that means for the new Halo), episodic games, small niche games e.t.c.

Of the reveals/releases over the last 12 months or so…

Hellblade 2 - single player AAA Fable - Single player AAA Avowed - single player AAA Halo Infinite - big AAA single player campaign focus As Dusk Falls - single player, Heavy Rain inspired. Gears DLC - single player expansion, likely to have playthrough time/content comparable to Miles Morales but without having to pay for it. Ori 1 - GOTY contender, single player Flight Sim - Single player compatible, game of the decade contender, certainly from a tech perspective. Criminally overlooked in GOTY. Nothing, including GOW, TLOU2, Red Dead etc, even comes close to the graphical prowess of that game. This game is more AAA than all those combined.

MS have plenty of traditional AAA single player games coming. Plenty. Any people looking over the fence and yearning for games made by other platforms should just buy those platforms.

I like how MS isn’t trying to ape Sony. They don’t need to. The fact that some of their recent output is appealing to PC gamers shows they have recognized that chasing that “traditional” console gamer won’t earn them as much. hence things like Gears Tactics/Age of Empires 4/Flight Sim getting elevated to Halo/Gears levels in the minds of MS.

Xbox released more games in 2020. Released 2 90+ MC games this year (against Sony’s 1), had a higher MC average rating, released games across a broader range of genres. Had games that are more popular. More people played Sea of Thieves in 2020 than TLOU2 for Pete’s sake. There’s no way of putting it. It’s just a bigger game.

I’m enjoying how MS are generating games for niches, not chasing the playground hype cycle. Their eco-system has always catering for more mature audiences, even right back to Xbox Fitness, multi-tasking etc, back compat, multi-device gaming (childcare!!) etc. Sony on the other hand, and credit to them, are massively leading with the teenange demographic (Champions League sponsorship etc). It is that group that generates hype/fandom more than any other.

Too many for my tastes :joy:

What if it’s everything?

Episodic game with 15-20 hours of GamePlay per episode and side quest which makes it the worthy open world game with 40 hours of gameplay.

I don’t want games for niches, I want games that most console gamers seem to enjoy. Sony is having 2 first party GOTY ccntenders this year and is selling consoles faster than they can make them , breaking records, so maybe aping them a bit isn’t that bad. SOT is not a bigger game than TLOU and games like this don’t bring new Xbox users.

I want the cyberpunk, the red dead redemption, the God of war e.t.c from MS not flight simulator.

What makes you think that each episode would be…,.,15-20 hours ?

That’s true. It could be episodic like how QB was, indeed. Doesn’t have to mean that they go the Lis or TMW route. People panic when they hear episodic because they immediately think it will be one episode on launch day and months later the next episode, but that doesn’t have to be the case at all.

A team with such talent, I can’t see them making a short game like TMW. Budget wise it’s undoubtedly going to be so much higher and scope of course too. Will it be a episodic release like Telltale or more like AW and QB is the question.

Yeah man.

First of all, it’s just a rumor. Why speculate over a rumor?

I am following Consoles since last year and i have seen speculation turning into concern and FUD, which is the worst thing about console community engagement.

I hope writers stay away from writing these inside info. Or atleast write it in a way that FUD doesn’t happen.

Haha.

Everyone is just speculating on a rumor.

Atleast i am speculating in positive manner🤷

if this was game pass exclusive and you can’t buy it then i will agree with you but Nah if the game come out and it’s only 1 episode for $70 and tell us to wait months for the to the next episode and a year or 2 years for the full game then that some BS.

you either sell each episode for $10 or otherwise MS is asking for negativity and probably bad score reviews because it will be no different than Anthem

I think it’s going to be something like The Dark Pictures.

Multiple short stories (10 hours) in the Perfect Dark universe. Every story will be about a different agent. That’s far better than Hitman 1 or LIS.

Whatever…

You keep on FUD

Do you not have enough games to play? Are you struggling? Have you finished Valhalla and are bored now?

I literally have too much to play. So frankly an xbox exclusive wouldn’t help me at all. Let alone 2-3 more games.

It also wouldn’t have helped Xbox seeing as its nigh on impossible to actually buy a console as they are flying off the shelves.

I’m gutted Halo Infinite wasn’t at release as I really want to play that - I personally don’t really care about the graphics or fanboy oneupmanship nonsense - open world 60FPS Halo is going to have some limitations but if the gameplay is good then bring it on.

I DO agree that Xbox have to start to get their first party studios producing though. I do think Halo needs to release sooner, rather than later. 343i are getting extra time BUT for me it was delayed in August. 3 months before release. Therefore I don’t think its reasonable even with Covid for that game not to hit by May. I think the longer it goes the worse it becomes in terms of idle speculation about it. And I do think Xbox needs to have something for 21 beyond Halo Infinite. I also think that they DO NOT need to just release single player narrative experiences because someone like me for example, is less interested in those than other styles of games and therefore they need to cater to an audience more than just those who buy a PS5…

I actually agree with you that this seems to be a better fit based on the rumours that are out there.

Nah the one who post AAAA made huge mistake, it spread like wild fire. also you have the community at fault literally everyone even that insider with squirrel Pic hyping people signing to the studio like really ? all of this led to the situation we are in and the pressure for The initiative increased.

SillyOddIndochinesetiger-size_restricted

that is 1 year between Man of Medan and little hope it will come down to this price, quality and gameplay

Ok? I have no idea what you’re getting at.

This has absolutely nothing to do with what we are discussing here. People are wondering why many folks are negative towards such rumors, WTH does assassins creed has to do with any of this?

Nobody cares what YOU (or me) are interested in, the public is interested in big AAA games as sales numbers of such games and ps5’ initial sales’ numbers clearly indicate. Catering to an audience different to the one who «buys a ps5» (which is basically the console audience in general) doesn’t seem to be working that great.

The problem isn’t that MS isn’t releasing only narrative single player games, the problem is that MS hasn’t released a big AAA console game since gears 5. They just had a new console release WITHOUT A SINGLE BIG FIRST PARTY GAME, that is the problem.

People want to avoid reality and just resort to name calling, that is their right, but for the time being that is how things are. Now when this MS game and that game and the other actually get released (and prove to be great) then we can talk about them. Until then the only XSX future gameplay footage that we have is that dreadful halo infinite demo. The fact that MS people thought that this looked great for their biggest franchise speaks volumes.
