Certain genres will never get nominated for goty. Street fighter 6 should’ve made the list. Plus forza horizon 5 not making it was a joke

Game media:
I don’t even care that Starfield is missing out on the GOTY nomination, but the Destiny 2 nomination is just embarrassing.
It’s a trivial awards show. Honestly nobody cares about it. It’s just more internet fanboy point scoring potential.
Not surprises, I already knew. The people who vote for this are the same people with the hot takes and constant negativity towards the green box. I’m not bothered with these awards on their own, I’m bothered by how much people take them seriously and how much they ruin discourse.
What pisses me off most is that the narrative won.
Honestly this show has always been about the game reveals for me anyway. Some years they are great, others they aren’t.
We could be getting Dragon Age, and I would assume the big “will sell millions” Capcom game, which I hope is a new MH.
Could be good. Still not staying up for it.
Hogwarts was completely forgotten it seems
As much as I don’t care for the award, literally here for trailers, I found Destiny 2 to be outrageous one.
Eh? No narrative has done a thing. Starfield has been Bethesda’s most successful game ever. It was never going to be nominated as it’s a year with lots of highly rated games and Starfield was just more divisive.
I’m going to play the devil’s advocate and agree with the GOTY list. Starfield was a great game, but seeing the 6 nominees I can understand why Starfield was not there.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was a cultural phenomenon and a masterpiece. It’s simply one of the best games I’ve ever played, and the success it made as a cRpg is unbelievable.
Zelda TOTK is a solid sequel to an amazing game. It could be more original, but why change what isn’t broken.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a super creative 2d mario game with great design. Nothing more to be said here, it’s just so much fun and creativity.
Alan Wake 2 is a Sony style game but better than pretty much all of them lol. It’s one of my favorite “cinematic” games, you can truly see the director’s vision when playing it.
Going into the more controversial ones, Resident Evil 4 is a remake, but it is a pretty well done one, which respect the original game, while improving it with better gameplay. It’s a perfect remake of a almost perfect game.
Spider-Man 2 is the only game I disagree with, but I can understand it’s nomination. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a solid fun game with a good Spider-Man story and villains. Using venom is pretty much cheating tbh lol
Starfield is a great game, but unfortunately it released in one of the most packed years in gaming history.
I want Destiny 2 to win the best community support award so that Parson can say “Shoutout to our community support team that we laid off for being greedy cunts.”
These awards were always dumb but I stopped taking them seriously whatsoever after FH5 in 2021, it somehow continues to get worse years later
BG3 best multiplayer?
No score/music for Starfield?
and best community/support list is embarrassing, like how is BG3 or Destiny there? lmao
Seriously, the sooner y’all stop taking this nonsense seriously the better
With all due respect, but Insomniac Games have a knack to be nominated easily but so as cleared out easily. Like Ratchet before, it’s easy to discard it and then struggle with the rest.
They literally took the Assassin Creed nominee slot.
Tbh 2021 was one of the weakest years in gaming history. Ratchet & Clank was no masterpiece, but it deserved a nomination, considering its competitors that year.
I agree with most of this, but I don’t understand Spiderman-2 making the list. There were so many better games released in 2023 that deserved that spot over Spiderman. Also, RE4 remake is a bit tricky because this does open the door for remakes to be included.
My point is when it comes to breaking it apart, Ratchet was the first in mind to eliminate. This year feels the same. If I have to choose, I’ll be struggling with AW2, BG3, and TOTK.
Which makes me think Dead Space got snubbed.
I feel attacked.
I did like Mirage a lot and was hoping for it to get something… But critics have definitely decided that AC is not cool anymore.
