The Game Awards 2023 |

Hopefully Phil takes note and have Infinity Ward create Cal of Duty.

They could also do Call o’ Duty or Call of Dut.

And then bring it all together in Cal O Doot.

Keighley should just drop the whole “awards” bs and call it the Winter games showcase or something.

Story was definitely quite bad but gameplay wise I really enjoyed it. I’ve yet to play 5.

My hope is that NT tries their hand again at a DMC or Enslaved like game after Hellblade 2. Doesn’t even need to be huge and open world or whatsoever. Just a great third person action adventure such as Enslaved, with interesting characters and story, fun combat and some platforming and puzzles probably too.

I’d be in favor of this so damn much too. That it would turn out they just mislead us on purpose (when Phil said no Midgen refresh, X is the Midgen refresh) and it’s coming after all and Xbox won’t be lagging behind PS for the remainder of the generation.

But it won’t happen, and it wouldn’t make sense to reveal that here when it would likely be still a year away.

Not calling you out at all, but does anyone have a link to the direct word for word quote on this one? I kind of wonder if this isn’t another thing where words were maybe misinterpreted or there was a “right now” element that was overlooked.

The only direct quote I distinctly remember was when introducing the 1 tb black series s and I definitely took that quote as that there wasn’t a need to update X right then.

Uodate: Start around 5 minute mark, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4F1Kjp_XNA

I don’t read this as there never being a mid generation update, but that since we’re still in what he deems the end of the beginning of the generation, it’s not a need right now and therefore there’s no news on an update to X.

And there’s a Bloomberg quote and that one appears to say not yet more than no. Don’t have a good link to it but Tom’s Hardware quotes the piece as “Right now, we’re pretty set on the hardware we have.” Which honestly doesn’t mean much long term to me.

Hmm, I do think it was what you meant. But I also recall he said the Series X was the mid gen refresh, which I honestly just find odd. We’re already seeing games going back to lower framerates and UE5 is quite demanding. I don’t know how big of a difference a Pro model would make, but what they reported about a PS5 Pro sounds good.

And if we then speculate a little on how Xbox already has two models with the S and X, and they are losing money in it too, is a Pro model really necessary for them? As hardcore Xbox gamer I’d buy one in a heartbeat, but really…aren’t we in the minority and are most people fine with the S and X?

Oh also, the leaked documents didn’t show any real Pro model in their plans, it has the new X model that has a different design, new controller, but not enhanced console like a Pro.

Ninja Theory DMC was a great game, but a bad DMC imo. I felt they nailed the gameplay, and I think it showed that their studio understands a good combat system. However, everything else about the game wasn’t good imo, but the game was a lot of fun. I hope Hellblade 2 is action based, but I still need to play the first game tbh. I will play it near the time of the release of HB2

I agree with your reasoning, but I’m definitely going to try to track down that quote and see if it’s what he said or what we heard. And honestly a redesigned X without specifically upgrading all of it could also be on the cards, but we know from their court case the were at least toying with making some changes to some of the components. So that’s why I don’t fully buy the no mid generation message, I think it’s possibly just people not hearing what was really meant. We’ve seen with stuff Brit has been posting more proof of that happening recently…

I would be incredibly delighted to find out we were wrong and a actual pro console by Xbox is coming, because I honestly rather buy GTA 6 (and other multiplats) on my console of choice. I’m not gonna mention Witcher 4, because I can absolutely see that taking as long as until end of this gen, I’ll get that for the next gen Xbox, haha.

I’m actually more interested in an xbox handheld. I think that has the potential to blow away any traditional console.

Purely out of malice I voted for Hogwarts as it should have been shortlisted for many of the other categories but was discarded due to a political agenda.

But don’t we kinda have them with some of those hybrids out there already?

Couldn’t the ESA do that instead as well as an official award show Btw Jan and march.

For sure. But I think one point that is understated is that an Xbox handheld with the same delivery requirements as the Series S would be a massive boon to developers.

Developers and publishers would be clamoring to create their Series S versions instead of just thinking of it as a crutch.

Anyways I just realized what thread I’m in so I’m going to leave it at that instead of expounding on that.

Maybe Take Two told Geoff that he can’t mention GTA because people will think it’s affiliated with the VGAs. And Geoff is like, “Okay fine I won’t mention ‘Grand Theft Auto’…” and then misspelled it on purpose to circumvent their request. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Seriously though, there’s also the possibility where the trailer would say “See more at the VGAs”.

Honestly, I’m more excited about the GTA VI trailer than the game awards, unless I see an Xbox first party game trailer there like Hellblade 2 or Avowed or anything new that is not announced yet lol

I have a couple of those and have tried all of them. They are all pretty good but they don’t come close to a Switch as far as being a simple product for all consumers. Imagine a xbox handheld purpose built for gaming… I really think Phil is hinting we will eventually get one.

Well there is the DICE awards.

It’s too bad that the live count is blocked now. Hopefully BG3 still reigns supreme until the end. Though it’ll be nice if it wins the ultimate GOTY too, not just fans votes.

I know that but I’m talking of one with the fluff maybe like some have said one that can replace E3. Say the E3 Game Awards having the fluff. I just think the ESA would not relegate judging to the reviewers.

One possible announcement for Xbox could be the Oblivion remake/remaster I think.
