I wish Xbox would help speed that up a bit. Why not give something like an “IGN First” preview of Hellblade 2 to a site like XboxEra instead? Jesse & Co would make something 100x better and it would reach its audience anyway.

This show is simply a sham at this point that panders and benefits from console wars. It is also a snapshot of the industry at large. A part of me would love to see Microsoft be petty but they probably would still leverage the show for something. When an award show doesn’t even know what’s independent simply a joke.

The age of streaming and Game Pass has made these hacks irrelevant, Xbox doesn’t need to give sites like IGN exclusive previews when they have an audience of 30m+ ready to download and play at launch
and like you said, if they really want that early footage out there, they don’t need these sites, it will find it’s way around

In a way, they kinda have. A lot of the exclusives that would go to IGN or elsewhere now go to Xbox Wire.

Honestly I’m not surprised, it’s the same thing every year. It’s a clown show. Let Geoff and his friends have fun with their shit. Seriously, who wants to waste time watching this? TGA is the perfect symbol of this biased press and everything that is wrong in this industry. I hope Microsoft will boycott the event and put on its own show. There will come a day when Xbox is so big that it can no longer be ignored, and all these clowns will come crawling back to make clicks because the movement will have changed. Hypocrisy is common among these people. Don’t give them attention. The real rewards are seeing players play the games and have fun. 2023 was a great year for gaming, and 2024 will be too, that’s all that matters.

I personally would have swapped mario wonder with hi fi rush and spiderman with hogwarts. Thats just me. Re4 is my personal goty.

More context since I follow CSGO esport:
He helped Team Vitality a little bit for few month, but Zonic was the coach.
Few weeks ago Zonic left Team Vitality for Falcons and XTQZZZ joined Team Vitality as the new coach.
Team Vitality played and lost two matches since he official joined them.
So based on the jury of TGA the two matches are enough to get nominated.

I feel like I’ve not fallen in the hardcore gamer pit of being all consumed by this sort of stuff but take enough interest to be aware of the news & I think that is the best place to be.
I couldn’t care less what is voted game of the year & to the general public & not the enthusiasts they won’t care either,
The only thing the casual cares about is the YouTube that will be shared of the announcement trailers.
It’s clear gaming journalism can’t be impartial it’s full of bias & is now predicated driving traffic to their sites, so is even less impartial
There is a clear anti Xbox narrative whether that’s because they are fanboys or they know negativity sells you’ll never really know
But it’s better just to accept it & not care and not feed the beast, more it trends more it gives them the desired outcome of exposure.
If I was Xbox I’d stop playing the game. I’d just cut IGN etc out. Don’t even give them games to review yes it will give negative press to begin with but they are negative anyway, they’ll so come crawling back as they’d be missing out on their clicks for a review.
Then Xbox is the one with the leverage, you’d soon see more favourable reviews.

I also agree Hogwart’s Legacy should have been nominated somewhere; I spent a lot of time in that game and I know several people who did as well and it was one of this year’s best, especially if you were into HP. Really surprised one of this year’s best seller isn’t nominated anywhere. The team must be disappointed.
Not surprised that Starfield got snubbed. Hoping that Microsoft skips The Game Awards and just waits for late January to hold the second annual Developer Direct.
Biggest WTF though goes to best ongoing game. Even if you exclude Microsoft’s Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Forza Horizon 5, State of Decay 2, Halo Infinite, Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, Fallout 76, The Elder Scrolls Online, etc., there’s still Rainbow Six Siege, GTA Online, maybe The Division 2, No Man’s Sky and others. I don’t get it. It’s like they just copy and paste that shit. SMH.

Nah. Would prefer late January to kick off 2024. Besides, anything done before TGA and especially the GTA reveal will get completely overshadowed. Late January is ideal in my opinion.
