The Game Awards 2022 | OT?

Well, Everwild will be a while but that’s what happens when you have teams trying to make new innovative stuff. It takes more iteration and ultimately takes longer. If they were churning out normal action adventure games it’d be different.

It could be for all kinds of reasons that we didn’t get an update on Redfall, maybe Arkane is not willing to commit to a date yet, and I won’t be surprised if it’s later than March.

But just a no show fucking sucks!

Rare is especially pushing it because they want to come up with new and innovative stuff + live service model complicates the perception a lot. I think most Xbox announcements were announced too early out of necessity, but especially Everwild I think that probably got announced way too early. Even from trailer to trailer the game changed, and that’s just trailer. The game could’ve barely been in conception when it was first announced for all we know.

Ok, you’re completely ignoring my point… and you accuse others of fanboy behaviour.

Baffling really, you consistently bring up Sony’s 2021 as some sort of defence mechanism against any purported criticism against Xbox… Xbox haven’t shown consistently they can consistently release content throughout a year… 2021 was the exception rather than the rule and they returned to the norm in 2022…

I mean when even Kobrille who to his credit is a eternal optimist is criticizing the year that Xbox has had you know it has been mediocre… justifiable criticism against a literal corporation.

I’m wondering where you see anyone say the year was in anyway fine?

The og reply was @Knottian replying to someone who wants to discount Redfall and Starfield from next year because they were supposed to come out this year, and he pointed out how Sony’s 2022 games were also supposed to come out last year.

And also how Sony has had almost similar droughts but don’t get doomed for them like Xbox for them. I know people will say it’s because PS has proven themselves already, hasn’t Xbox too? Their last 2 to 3 years games were a lot quality stuff too… We don’t have to keep referring to the XB1 stinkers forever…

Yeah, I would like to know who has said 2022 has been fine for Xbox first party, because it certainly has not been.

However, what I do find irritating are the hot takes with no consideration or context that it has been crap because Xbox decided they had to delay their 2 main titles. I don’t care who you are, that is going to hurt.

I agree with gt7. Definitely not forbidden west. That’s games looks amazing even if I think it’s just meh.

It’s going hurt but it makes you think if they hadn’t delayed those two titles… what would they actually have for first half 2023… Forza, maybe.

I guess it’s latent frustration that a ton of that 2020 showcase is AWOL three years on.

Everwild wasn’t announced too early that game went through dev hell and got rebooted.

And Minecraft.

Their aim is a major title per quarter so they wouldn’t be that far off what they are aiming for if this was the plan.

What would Sony have had in 2022 if all their 3 titles this year were released last year like (at least GT7 and HFW) was initially announced?

Oh wow, did we already reach the part where Phil Spencer is incompetent?

I’m going to mute this thread.

They seem to be using that term instead of competition

I get that logic… but it ignores that Sony had something like Ratchet in 2021.

If Microsoft had an release on that sort of level this year… I’d be relatively content.

Minecraft, sure… hopefully we get a mojang stream in January to indicate when it’s releasing.

Oops yes, my bad, Spanish guy here sorry, had no clue why craig was saying that hah, thanks for correcting me, always good to learn!

What? We’re taking about 2022 in which their 3 biggest games were initially slated for 2020/21 but delayed, if that was the case what would they have had in 2022?

The argument/comparison was that Sony had a dry 2021… thus it is justifiable for Xbox to have one in 2022.

I mean I’ve literally seen that said in this thread… so I’m stating if Xbox had a release like Ratchet this year, I would be quite happy.

I mean even this year they had the last of us remake, sifu, and stray in absence of Horizon and Ragnarok.

This is what you literally said in the post I replied to

it makes you think if they hadn’t delayed those two titles… what would they actually have for first half 2023… Forza, maybe.
