This is a good point, was this ever verified? I assume it must have been to some degree right?
Even if it wasnât verified the point still stands tbh. The trailer butchered how it looks compared to the screenshot and of course it will be polished a lot more since itâs not releasing next year.
Good point!
I saw this comment by him
I may be the only Obsidianite who comes here (other than Avellone, lol), though maybe others lurk. But I like how insanely critical you guys are. Itâs all valid criticism, from people who take this shit seriously, IMO. Itâs just so hard to interact with any community by a dev. Whatâs the point of making games if you canât have fun, this shit gets too.
But Avellone isnât at Obsidian for a long time nowâŚi guess he means ex Obsidianite.
And thisâŚ
There is actually straight up no chance of any sane developer interacting with this community. It is so toxic no one could touch it with a 10 foot pole on official terms. Anything from extreme misogyny to full fledged nazis lmao but I personally donât care and see value in the other side of the community (the unadulterated feedback, legit care about the genre Obsidian is working in). The fact one of the cofounders of Obsidian saw that value as well tells you something also.
More power to him I guess, but had I been a dev I wouldnât have bothered with that place at all. Just one page of that thread alone and Iâm seeing ridiculous stuff. I would actually go to a community that is at least a bit moreâŚgrown up, sheesh.
Yeah, RPGcodex is a shithole. No offence to Klobrille, but he shouldnât have linked to that place. You donât have to scroll far from the dudeâs post to see some blatant homo- and transphobia.
I think there is a decent chance itâs legit though, since he did drop a new screenshot. Wouldnât necessarily take anything he says as gospel, but I have all the faith in the world that Avowed is going to be a banger.
I always welcome more transparency, but this isnât the way.
If I was Obsidian, I wonât be happy. The least of it is the way he talked about TOW. But heâs also now setting new expectations in peopleâs minds and could repeat the same current situation.
But worst of all, is the place he made the comments in.
I looked into a couple of threads there (Avowed and Starfield) and Iâm surprised how anyone dares to be associated with one of the worst communities Iâve ever seen. (I canât think of worse except maybe 4chan, and itâs not far off).
And itâs not a few bad apples, itâs almost in every page, and it gets likes and laughs.
Dude is an idiot and obviously doesnât care about his co-workers.
I gaurante i spend 100 hours on starfield. Im a huge astronomy enthusiast. I dont dislike bethesda games. I just dislike the setting. Fallout is a setting im never going to dig.
Yes in general i prefer jrpgs but when a wrpg does hit it hits way harder than any jrpg. Mass effect 2 is a legit top 10 game of all time for me. I dont have a single jrpg in my top 10. And no. Zelda is not a jrpg.
The supposed worker said whoever edited the trailer did something to the colours so that checks.
Lets also remember trailers need time to be made. If I remember correctly Phil and Matt said at the very beginning of each year they are already discussing which games to feature in the summer showcase. We could be looking at images from and old build here.
Just trying to be positive here, although nothing too worrying, they have time to polish.
Apparently verified, yeah I guess thatâs all we got. Itâs not like itâs impossible that a current employee would go on a forum and say what he said. If its all true it sounds like the world will be bigger than ToW then, more open.
Back in the day devs used to argue in forums with fans. Todd Howard and josh sawyer did this sometimes.
Haha, I kinda want to see what that looked like. We did know that Todd was anything but fond of Sony fanboys, haha. I believe it was in a letter?
That good that we both love space/space games. I agree with you that Zelda is not a true JRPG. Itâs more action adenture. Still a great game series of all time.
If you do not understand the point that is ok, no need to dig further. I have to say though that being able to quote and, I assume, read the point several times without drawing the correct conclusion and identifying the point is quite impressive.
Youâd think after the Avellone situation theyâd be monitoring RPGCodex but I get why they canât afford to monitor everyone
Haha oh damn, that first line.
I also remember another post from long ago by him that wasnât exactly super friendly of PS fanboys, haha.
Todd was a forum poster in 1997 lol.
Just rewatched the trailer. Looks like there is a filter on it. Doesnât do the screenshots justice at all.
