The Falconeer, Fantasy Air Combat coming to Series X. Updates and news

@FalconeerDev I’ve just finished it. Fantastic game! Gorgeous world, and an amazing experience with headphones on.

I did have some trouble understanding the game mechanics at first, especially how the chapters were handled, but once everything clicked I couldn’t stop playing.

I hope Game Pass brings you the success you deserve

Glad you liked it. 1000/1000 love seeing those.

I’m at the moment just monitoring and getting out a gamepass focused hotfix. But after that I feel there’s been enough enjoyment on gamepass and audience to keep on working on new content.

This is where I was. I kept fighting the auto level in movement (use to more “advanced” controller setups in games like Ace Combat). On the 2nd mission I kept dying. After an hour, maybe, I still couldn’t figure out why. Then I got distracted with a co op game with my kid and his friends. Haven’t gotten back yet to try again. I’m hoping it “clicks” this time.

Things changed for me when I switched to Easy difficulty.

Try to buy the Magnetar Rifle and upgrade it to Used as soon as you can. I only upgraded to Sublime in the last chapter.

Discover as many Shrines as early as you can so you can buy Special Chants from the Seachantresses. Bloodlust is a game changer. Rage, Resistance, Overcharged and Memorial are also nice.

Do some racecourses to buy different falcon types with higher attributes.

Do some side missions if you need money to buy said Weapons, Chants and Falcons. No need to grind hard at the beginning. I just did two or three side missions whenever I felt I could be doing more damage.

This is some good advice right here. Thanks!

Like @MaulerX said, good advice! I’ll try those.

I do recall trying one “mail” side mission after failing the post-prologue mission a few times. I was at the destination, then the marker was removed with a note about bandits while I was over the fortress. I started to circle, then saw a weapon ordinance followed by a mission failed notice. After that I tooled around for a bit and found some locations on my way back to where the main mission was at.

It’s that day of the week again, another The Falconeer update is live for Xbox and all Gamepass users: this one is very much based on the small city of people that played the game. Hope it solves most urgent issues.

Just finished Falconeer, great game, Love the atmosphere and the story is really good too !

If I can give a few feedbacks on the game, I would say the “landing” is quite rough to do with the “hold A” with such a small window to act. I would like a circle around the landing point it would be easier to land.

I think combat is good right now, the game could use one or two new ennemies but I’m sure you’re planning to add more content

Overall I liked the game and though the lore was really fantastic to discover, I liked the fact we are playing from multiple factions, it really adds deph and by the end we understand why every faction act the way it does.

thanks , glad to hear it.

I’ve been toying with the idea of adding enemies with pyro pot rockets as well. Gamepass feedback and updates keeping me busy,. but yeh soon enough

I’m not sure if these updates and QOL improvements have helped or if the tips I read about in this thread did, but after digging back in to the game again, it’s very different in the best possible way. For now, my only “complaint” is still fighting the auto level of the controls (and I’m still causing inadvertent dives when I’m trying to slow into decent to follow enemies, though; but that’s a “me” issue, too).

I’m only on chapter 3 now but I’ve enjoyed exploring the area, seeing sea life sprout during random encounters (escorting a ship, etc.) and I dove head first into the Cartohom (sp?) missions. I’ve also focused on the races and completed 5 of the 6 listed. A new bird (blue falcon from the north) and upgrading my weapon have made combat much less of the three-hit-fireball-mission-over situation I was running up against.

For the price (I purchased at launch before game pass), I think this is a great value. Game pass makes it a no-brainer for anyone remotely in to aerial combat games. Amazing work for such a small team.

Thank you, and congratulations, Mr. Sala!

Thanks man,

I hope the improvements helped, there have also been some subsurface big AI changes, that allow for less twitchy combat and more chase based moments , and not just eternal turning.

the rockets also are a game changer, I think the entire game at normal difficulty is now a fairly easy game, which makes it much pleasurable to explore the world and story if you’r just there for that

anyway, thanks for reporting back, these messages really get me thru the day some days

Going to dive into this at the weekend, pardon the pun.

Mr. Sala, if there’s a better place to report an improvement suggestion, let me know and I’ll add this there.

Multiple times I’ve failed a mission because I shoot down (the large eel type enemies) and while I make the final shot at a distance, the death cut scene takes away my control and hard turn away from the path and I repeatedly get caught in the explosion, die, and fail the mission. Super frustrating when on a long mission. Could the scenes where control is taken away from us add a brief invulnerability window?

hey there,

In the settings ,turn of cinematic zoom, and voila no more taking away controls (or at least it should)

Also that sounds like you’r on mouse+kb (which sadly are not recommended for the game, and are there as experimental controls, as I’m not 100% happy with em). Could that be the case?, on controller the control isn’t wrested away.

Either way, turning of cinematic zoom will remove those sequences altogether, you only get the GUI prompts no zooming etc etc.

Hope that solves it for you.

Thank you (and apologies for the late reply).

I’ll check this setting out tonight. Also, I don’t game on KB+M; Xbox controller only.

After I posted, I did notice on other missions where I was in an animation but after the zoom, the auto level kicked in and I was flying elsewhere. I can see where the zoom changed my mindset where I thought control was removed so I relaxed (meaning I flew into an explosion).

Edit: just completed a diving mission where I was assaulted by the floating eel. Took that sucker out and banked hard. It went down, I didn’t relax in my maneuver and pulled away fine.

So, yes. “It was meeeeee” all along.

I’m watching the XboxEra podcast now and wanted to say congratulations and best of luck on the release of The Falconeer on Nintendo Switch and Sony PS5 coming up on August 5th. Keep up the positive outlook and keep making the games you want, @FalconeerDev !

Also, thank you for taking time out of your day to share experiences with us.
