I genuinely think it’s ultimately good for the game that so many people can’t stop thinking and talking about it.

Better to make such a strong impression on so many people than to be a Horizon Forbidden West that’s forgotten two weeks after it came out.

(Also, let’s be real now, anyone who still thinks that there isn’t a deliberate smear campaign against Xbox games in the games media isn’t being honest with themselves.)

Just imagine if it had launched with the usual Bethesda bugs and issues, Seems it made gaming media mad that it was relatively bug free for a Bethesda game. Bethesda took a key talking point from the gaming media that wanted to trash the game.

I’ve not found a gaming-focused subreddit that isn’t toxic (outside of Animal Crossing) and a large part of it is because the same toxic fanboys from r/gaming are more often-than-not the same people ruining these sub communities.

lol that was so predictable that the sub was outraged. I predicted during the show lol. I still don’t understand why people post on a game specific sub if they hate a game so much. There are so many games to play, so just move on. I feel some of the discourse is genuine and then there is of course stuff that get infiltrated by console warriors. Then a place like reddit is absolute trash for actual discussion because people will downvote people for saying they like a game. So of course that results in the echo chamber of people disliking a game to farm upvotes

Most subreddits seem to always end up on one side of an extreme and an echo chamber lol, there’s subreddits that make fun of that (the circlejerk subs) and even those end up being bubbles on an extreme

People at IGN, with some exceptions( very few to be honest) are just PlayStation/Nintendo fanboys who gets paid by a media outlet to console wars in a more professional setting lol.

The worst is when these companies place people that aren’t fans of xbox to cover Xbox. I know IGN has done that many times where you can see it’s clear they’re not xbox fans, but most likely took the job to cover xbox to get foot in door. I feel there’s way more competition to cover Sony and Nintendo, so some of these people try to get jobs covering xbox due to less competition.

I mean if IGN wants to be “the” place for gaming news, discussions, etc., wouldn’t they need to expand their area of expertise beyond PlayStation and Nintendo. I feel like Xbox podcasts and Xbox fans in twitter has more in-depth knowledge on the platform than the so called “mainstream” gaming media has. I get dualshockers or even here in Xboxera, because of their focus on a specific platform, but these folks(IGN) have no right to claim themselves as “unbiased” when you have people in IGN publicly showing their bias on a particular platform, instead of being professional and keep their bias in check to state facts. IGN is like the Fox News of the gaming world.

Cozygamers, almost all TES related subs (TESlore, Morrowind, ect), Stardew Valley and Yakuza are either pretty chill or very funny.

There’s often a weird, weird, weird correlation between ‘fandom’ and a masochistic relationship with the object of supposed adoration. Halo is the peak example. It’s dressed up as critique and the ‘devs let us down’ but ultimately it seems more about people wallowing in mutual misery masturbation.
