Yeah I feel being shadow dropped early in the year screwed it over for award season. I hope it can win best action game because it’s the best action game I’ve played this year

It’s not a category at the Keighleys, but either of Amnesia The Bunker or STASIS: Bone Totem should be winning the horror/survival horror awards.
I’m not expecting a single MS first party nominated for GOTY award at TGA, because of course no one wants that Gamepass crap lol, only xbots rate those games any higher than a 6!

Absolutely not. I’ve played about 100 hours of Halo Infinite since Squat Battle was added to the game in July… some folks repeating over and over again that “xbox has no games” or “xbox first party sucks” cannot impact how much I’ve been enjoying the game.
And while Infinite is now a great game due to the effort of passionate employees in spite of the former management at 343i which failed its employees and the Halo community, it does not seem to be endemic among Xbox 1st party - a ton of marvelous games released since 2020.
Just don’t let strangers on the interwebz gaslight you into thinking there’s something wrong with enjoying the games you’re enjoying.

I try to, but I should probably focus even more on game-specific communities and threads and just avoid some of these industry business threads. I like to talk about game’s strengths & flaws but without it being attached to all that other crap that folks bring up all the time. Unfortunately it can be tougher to separate than you think. I think r/patientgamers is one of the best places for this.

Every thing is like this to Sony fans moving goal posts, They try and find some minute detail that Sony did ever so slightly different to maybe try and move focus from the concept that yes Sony did the same thing you are complaining that Xbox did and are just trying to find an excuse for Sony.

It’s sad really because the narrative from the other side always seem to convince even fans many of which are in forums like this. As soon as the Metacritic went low even many that were hailing this game as great began to fall in line with that narrative. Now you tend to hear people say well it’s a good game not great simply because of the Metacritic. At the end of the day even though many say they don’t care about Metacritic they still tend to fall on it as they have no other metric to combat it. I think for the discourse to get better there needs to be a more honest metric not weighed down by inconsistent bias.

Pfft, weak ass people. Starfield is an excellent game and my Game of the Gen so far. Metacritic is bullshit on the best of days. With media dead set against Xbox? Completely worthless.

Metacritic is indeed BS, but it is the metric that convinces most of the gaming discourse. Just look around you and you will notice even the big Xbox influencers one by one are relegating to just saying it’s a good game with issues when there were people at the first saying it’s a their GOTY or rating it at least a 9. You even had one supposedly Xbox youtuber going after another saying Xbox need to do better cos Starfield and Forza did not crack 90. I just think an alternative is needed.

I noticed in every XBox thread on GAF, they are fantasizing about Microsoft exiting Xbox.
I predict Hellblade 2 will be the true turnaround title for XBox in EU/Japan.

Even if every reviewer in the world was completely unbiased in any way, it would still be an arbitrary number based on “feelings”.
If my teachers graded me the way metacritic reviewers do I’d fe furious.

BTW, I broke my own rule & checked the other era Xbox thread & it sort of confirms something I’ve assumed for a while: Xbox fans need to become way, way more assertive with our likes & dislikes. I mean when I see them literally cr*pping all over the Gears franchise & calling it stuck in the 360 era & stuff like that, just no. I’m currently playing through Gears 4 again right now & it’s still one of the best shooter campaigns on the market. And if Gears is stuck in the 360 era, what about their precious Sony with their walking/talking simulators where slow walk & crouch in the grass artificially pads the game length?
I realize though the main issue is one of moderation, on all sites, i.e. Sony fanboys get to shape the narrative with impunity (like dissing on Gears with concern trolling) whilst Xbox fans are on the defensive constantly.

Sony games have evolved over the ps3 formula. So are the Xbox games.
“Being stuck” is the hyperbolic comment of either blind/memory-less/biased people.
As the saying goes; stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything. These Youtubers who change with the narrative dont have a clue where they stand and are too afraid to stick to their own opinions when the discourse around a game becomes a bunch of hot takes.
If I enjoy a game, if its my GOTY or GOTG, it is what it is. I could care less about the discourse around a game if I enjoy it. I find it of weak character to change your stance because you’re too afraid to stick to your word. I understand having a genuine change of heart but, don’t pussy out because you’re too afraid of the backlash. Its 100% okay to have your own opinion and stick by it, if thats what you genuinely believe. Starfield is a genuine GOTG…that’s simply what I believe.
